Penned Deer Question

Hi all,

Just wondering how much of a complete feed like antler max or massive rack will the average doe and buck eat per day? In general, my deer are all free-ranging for a couple of square miles, and I supplement. But, I don't know how much to expect to feed in 2 acre pens... I am assuming that all of their feed will be from the deer feed.

Deer require 3% body weight,minimum, in good dry matter per day.Cheers Sharkey

my 10 adult does are offered 34 lbs a day (a little over 3 lbs per deer) in the winter months, some days they eat it all, somedays they dont, but come spring/summer, they will eat even more and lick it clean

I feed 12 deer 8 1 1/2 or older and 4 fawns 50 lbs of feed and 1/2 bale of alfalfa per day.

average square bale= 80 lbs

last year on my farm 71 deer ate 34 metric tonnes ( 1 tonne = 1000 kg = 2200 lbs)

74800 lbs. / 71 deer = 2.88 lbs./ deer/day average
