protect farm from..humans

I have used State farm in the past for ten years and never had a claim then when i did they dropped me. We have our farm insured through farm bureau now and they have been great. We also have individual policies on alot of our deer. They even insure our fence. They have been a big supporter of deer farming in our area so please support them by using there insurance.

Strange world, sure enough. I just wanted to insure my fencing which is a couple of miles. 5 horses and 40 cows... no problem. Deer? Problem.

Tell me more about this farm Bureau

Ezra The web site for Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is www.ofbf.org. You can find a agent close to you there. I have had Farm Bureau Insurance for 5 years, they have been great. I have had no problems with them at all. I do not have my deer insured, but they will insure them if needed. I am covered if some one gets hurt while helping, and also I am covered liability wise too. All my deer equipment is insured by them. They are surely worth talking too. Mine is Michigan Farm Bureau, but it is all the same insurance company just with a different state name. I am sure there are different insurance laws for Ohio and Michigan. Everyone should inform their agent any time something changes with your operation, new construction, equipment added or sold, If your insure your animals you need to make sure you have the correct number of livestock insured'

I looked into the farm bureau site for my state and they use Nationwide Agri coverage gonna call for a quote for sure an maybe change every thing house cars etc.... We'll see....

Dennis, are your deer considered livestock?

Bob Yes they are according to Michigan Farm Bureau standards. I have been over this a couple of times with my agent. A while back someone on here found out their liability did not cover anything with the deer portion of their farm, and their insurance company would not insure them for this. I again checked with my agent and the same rules apply to deer as it does for cattle or any other livestock. As stated before I do not have my deer insured, as Roger stated above I don't think it is worth the cost, when I basically raise shooter bucks and sell very few does. Like Roger said it will not cover for disease. We did not get into it to much because I was not interested in insuring them. I have a good friend that is a State Farm Agent, and they absolutely do not insure Cervid Farms.

I understand the reasoning when you raise deer. Not many poachers going to cut your fence for a calf when that would be easier elsewhere.

Hi Denny,

It doesn't sound as if this would be applicable to you, since you only raise shooter bucks, but if you have any animals that are critical to the propagation of your herd (e.g. a prized breeder buck or doe), Archangel Specialty has a new insurance product that is designed specifically for this purpose.  Our policies cover disease, bacterial infection, parasite, accidental trauma, anesthesia, transportation, and theft.  We do not, however, cover "government slaughter diseases" such as CWD or malicious injury.  If you would like to learn more about our Wildlife Breeders insurance program, here is the link to our website: http://archangelspecialty.com/programs/wildlife-breeders/  I would also be more than happy to answer your questions on this forum.

This new product is currently only available in Wisconsin, but we expect to roll it out in Texas, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Ohio over the next month or so.  If successful, we intend to expand into additional locations (perhaps Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, Alabama, etc.).

Our toll free number is 1-800-575-9628.  Please let us know if we can help you or any of your friends.

All the best,

Eight years ago we had a buck shot, fence cut and stolen. We valued the buck at $16,500 and offered a $16,500 reward. This got the State Polices attention, it made all the papers. Countless people who read the papers said they did not know deer were worth that much.

End result we have not had any problems since and the man who shot the buck turned himself in and we are now friends.

WHHHHHATT???? You are now friends with the man who shot and stole your deer??? Your a better man then I would be.

just got to get one ( PERSON ) and make exemp. out of him/she , draw the line in the sand , AND STICK TO IT ,

Electric fence is easy to cut.  the note above works best.  A good *** whippin is hard to beat!  I had the same problem with poachers hunting on my land.  Shoot holes in their trucks and leave a note that next time it will be them with holes!

I also put boards with spikes in the mud holes on my property for poachers.  You flatten all 4 tires and they know their in trouble.

Wow deer chaser !!!! You don't mess around!!! If I came back and found holes in my truck.... First I would have to change my pants because I wouldn't want to get my truck seat messed up then SUPER MAN himself wouldn't keep up to me driving out of there!!!

Keep up the good work!!! Charlie with a smile!!!!!
