I'm a licensed rehabber in Alabama. In the past I've fed canned goats milk/water or Zoologics replacer. I got a new fawn a week ago, prolly a month old now. I need imfo on how much red cap to feed her daily. She is in an outside pen with water, grass, pelleted feed. She's a small Al fawn, NOT a bigger yankee fawn. thanks in advance.

I would play it safe and feed 10oz of the mix of 1/2 scoop of replacer to 1 gal of redcap!!! I like to get them eatin solid food asap!!!It is done both ways with good results but i cant see a fawn bein very hungry for anything with 20oz of anything in their belly!!!

Having tried both straight red cap and red cap mixed with 1/2 cup formula to 1 gal milk this year...I personally would go for the red cap/formula mix and feed 9-11oz 3x a day (I'm basing this off of Rick Browning's Red Cap chart he's been sending to everyone interested).

Once I hit 10oz of red cap/formula, I stayed there until weaned keeping pelleted food, clean water, a pen full of fresh grass and hay (they really had no interest in the hay) available at all times...I decreased the feedings to 2x a day on week 11 and 1x a day on week 12 (weaned after week 12).

thanks guys.

I'm giving her 9oz, 4x daily. She has water, pellets, and grass..she is taking all three on her own. Wasn't sure I was giving her enough.
