I am currently spraying with 10% permitherin, what do you all switch to for killing the potential resistant bugs? and what strength do you use? so far no problems with my permitherin, but I want to switch it up for a couple weeks just to make sure.

not to change the subject but this could be helpful. What do people think of the fly predators and have they been shown to help with the midges????

I don't think they target the midges because I think they reproduce in differenct areas than the flys. I use the predators and am pleased with them. Of course I don't know how many flys I would have without them becuuse I've used them from the start.
We mix Perm-X UL 31-66 from Wayne Green all the time and rotate in bifen at double the suggested rate for a week then back to Permx alone for a few weeks... No idea how great this is going to work for us but this is what we are doing.
The information that I use has been given to me from the research the entomologist have done & make this recommendation for killing the midge fly. They recommend a two part chemical, being a mixture of permethrin & PBO 8. The killing chemical is permethrin & the PBO 8 is the synergist insecticide that prevents the midge from developing the ability to detoxify the permethrin.
How PBO 8 Piperonyl Butoxide Works
Piperonyl botoxide is not an insecticide in itself. Piperonyl botoxide blocks the enzyme in a target pest that would detoxify the insecticide. This allows a higher amount of the insecticide to remain in the target insect, increasing its effectiveness to kill the midge.

Synergizes many insecticides, pyrethrins, pyrethroids, carbamates, imidaclorpid, and rotenones
