The information that I use has been given to me from the research the entomologist have done & make this recommendation for killing the midge fly. They recommend a two part chemical, being a mixture of permethrin & PBO 8. The killing chemical is permethrin & the PBO 8 is the synergist insecticide that prevents the midge from developing the ability to detoxify the permethrin.
How PBO 8 Piperonyl Butoxide Works
Piperonyl botoxide is not an insecticide in itself. Piperonyl botoxide blocks the enzyme in a target pest that would detoxify the insecticide. This allows a higher amount of the insecticide to remain in the target insect, increasing its effectiveness to kill the midge.
Key Features of PBO 8 Piperonyl Butoxide
Made in the USA
Synergizes many insecticides, pyrethrins, pyrethroids, carbamates, imidaclorpid, and rotenones
Because of the mode of action, it allows use of reduced rates of insecticides..
Can be used as a spray, fogging or misting.
Poses low risk to humans and environment.
Excellent resistance management tool
I sell a concentrated chemical that is 31% permethrin & 66% PBO 8, you add ten ounces of this to a gallon of oil and your ready to fog. Please note it is not water soluble. It is an oil mixture the leaves a residual effect for longer killing duration. So many deer farmers are mis-informed on the correct way to kill the midge fly. You can't bring a knife to a gun fight. If you have any questions feel free to call me. The fogger sells for $2,495 and carries a 3 year warranty
