I have a 6 1/2 month old doe I have hand raised since she was about 10 days old (her mother was hbc)

The past 3 days she has been very restless. Pacing around, bleeting, running back and forth. Prior to this she was fine. She is eating fine, healthwise she seems to be good. Does anyone have any info on this. We were wondering if the full moon affected deer. My husband also recently shot a buck and had it in our garage. Would this cause her to become restless?

I agree with Mike as that is the more likely reason.

It is certainly well timed with her coming in heat her first time. Never noticed them act quite like that when they do, but I wouldn't rule it out.

The smell of the buck your husband had in the garage - maybe

The moon - Absolutely NOT!

Just my opinions!

Don't think you have alot to worry about, and I think you know that, sounds like you were just curious, as I would be too!

I haven't seen any bucks around. we had thought about that as a possibility. She seems a bit more settled this evening, but she was driving us nuts!! Thanks for the replies.

Could she have been visited by her wild brothers and sisters? or possibly spooked by an animal? Have any dog's been seen near her pen? My girl never paces during heat- she's totally calm, even with a buck around she's just chill...

We have 2 dogs that she's completely comfortable with. No other dogs can get anywhere near her. We have been seeing a stray cat in the area. Even though we have 2 cats that's she"s quite fond of, maybe this one scares her because she does not know it.

Definately in heat. Our 6 year old doe has been in heat 3 times so far this year (Nov,Dec & Jan)and paces the fence, restless, grunts a lot and acts stupid. It usually passes in a few days.
