I have 90% shade cloth in alley ways and to handling facility, some of my pens wanted to put some shade cloth up but wind is a concern, other shade cloth has flaps cut in and strips of wood sandwich together to stop sailing, and post are braced to ground.would shade cloth that is 50% shade keep deer from running into fence and allow wind to penetrate without flaps and bracing,90%works great running deer up to handling facility.

I've heard that a small propane torch and some holes small quarter size holes in the shade cloth does wonders for wind, but I've not tried it yet.

We use the 90% and have it fairly well secured with no issues....yet.  :)

If you have a properly built fence, wind should not be an issue. Anywhere you cut it, the deer will begin to chew it. This can lead to death in a worst case scenario. I just took half of mine down because they were chewing it so badly. Make sure you always place it on the outside, not the inside of the fence.

thanks, that's right you cut flaps they chew on them or the side of hole, that's why I thinking 50%shade cloth no holes for flaps, well if no one tried 50% I'll try some in spring.
