Not sure you're getting the point. They can be as "anal" as they want... they cannot control nature! Coyotes, crows, deer scents, animals coming in from out west (regardless of rules or regs), you can have as many regulations as you want, you cannot STOP it from spreading. Lucky is a much more accurate term. PA was CWD free for countless years, and yet, we now have found it. It's all just a matter of time for any state.

Oh i got the point and one point is,Is that we had it 8 years ago. I asked them..What makes you think its still not here? They believe with all the testing they have done in the wild and behind fence they would have found it by now. They also know that it could walk in at any time... Didnt seem to phase them a bit!

Yes Mike I did get the email. And I do wish that I could have been there. Unfortunately with short notice and work I could not attend. I'm sorry you had such a poor turnout, I look forward to the next one, maybe we should have it in Albany and ask DEC or AG if we could possibly use their conference room.

Been there, Done that with our lawyer. Im afraid at this point the next contact with them will be at public comment.

I'm surely no know it all but I've always said in these forums that we need legal action ! If we continue to simply try and negotiate the rulings and laws put upon us which get worst and worst and harder and harder to follow we're doomed because we're always loosing ground . I know most of the better deer farmers who are selling breeding stock and are making a profit will disagree with me but if we don't or can't prove our case in court we'll be soon out of business and no one will be around to buy those better high end deer other than the breeders simply swapping deer with each other if that will even be allowed . I'm a little guy here in this cervid industry but I feel even I should have the right to enjoy raising a few deer and elk if thats what I choose to do on my land on my farm ! I'm sick of loosing ground and being told there are newer stricker laws year after year after year . Heck I can't even really quit , knowing if I do I'll either have to pretty much give away most of the doe's and even pay to butcher some as well with a $120.00 CWD test required to do so . My farm friends that raise cattle never believe me when I tell them I MUST test and pay $120.00 to butcher and eat my own deer ! They think I'm nuts and B.S.ing them all the time , thats how crazy this stuff has gotten. I just think a court of law has to see we're being forced out of business and forced into crazy unjust rulings we can barely afford to follow just in the name of politics . I'd like to be allowed to make a bit of a profit for my labor but by the time we pay testing fee's , inspection fee's , grain fee's , licence fee's and supplies there's not much left. Then it's use this ear tag , then that ear tag , then oh no an electronic tag , then a chip to ship one . My goodness where's the end here ? How and WHY have we allowed ourselves to become this way ? WHY ?? Ya I'm frustrated , aren't the rest of you ? Something has to give here we need a different avenue of defense !

I agree, we need to go on the offense, I'm am tired of losing ground and playing defense. I feel like being treated like a criminal, just raising deer. I never felt this way raising cattle.

Boy I would like to hear the majority of us start talking like this....it's pretty much the only option we have left!! We have the right to do what we love doing (deer farming) it's time we defend ourselves!!

Well the new CWD rules have reached Montana. I have been informed I'm a level four in their program. I have been in this program sinse 1999. Yes I have missed some animals in June and July because heat ruined the samples. I can get to a certified status if I have a herd inventory in 2013 and will become a level five but will have to wait a year till I'm classed as a certified herd status. I can't sell out of State till I'm a certified herd. This rule is stated in the new USDA that you have to wait a full year after you do your herd inventory for a certified status I'm told by our Dept of Livestock. Their quote Under the USDA's herd Certification program, herds can qualify for certified status one year after obtaining level five status. Animals that can't produce an income aren't livestock but only pets. This is just another injustice that should make this industry file a law suit against the new CWD program. I've been sick of being the scape goat for a problem caused by the DNR facility or the wild deer of Colorado. We are not the problem but will be the solution to CWD in the future because we are trying to find a cure. We are the only place that is really tested for the CWD disease so the fact is we have the most healty animals as we try to test them all. I strongly encourage everyone to ask our leaders for some legal action to stop these rules from killing our industry.

You know Jack , we'll sit on our backsides so long that we won't have any rights any more not only as deer farmers but pritty much for anything else too . I don't understand how some of us can pay thousands and thousands of dollars for breeding stock and sit there and let the rules and reg's put us out of business . Are we just willing to pocket as much money as we can WHILE we can and then simply call it quits as we're forced out of business or what ? This industry baffles me , we pay big bucks to get into it then we nigotiate and negotiate looseing ground every year and we're happy with that ? To think of all the hours and days some great people negotiate with a non-negotiating governing body and we loose ground every stinking year and we call that progress and say OK ? Whats the big fear in a law suit ? Is it if we loose we're doomed quickly instead of this slow painful death of our industry ? If these rulings made some sense it would be one thing but most of them just simply DON'T ! I'm with you Jack a law suit might be our only future !!
