We are fairly new to raising deer (about 2 years) Our 2 year old buck, yearling buck, and 2 does seem to be not feeling well. Their symptoms are: raised hair and fever mostly but also slight decline in food intake and just appearing to be lethargic compared to normal behavior. Any ideas, advice?

Thank you!

Just a thought, but I'd look at the feed or all things these deer have in common. If you have other deer that are fine the feed may not be an issue. Just a place to start...

We have 4 others eating as well that appear fine. What would I be looking for in the feed to know if there is something wrong? We haven't changed anything in their feeding to isolate.

I would not run them if you suspect pneumonia any unnecessary is not good for them. Plus sometimes they will also cough when run and it needing wormed! I would treat them ASAP! I once had a buck had similar symptoms he died less than 10 feet out of the chute after treatment just from the stress of handiling him.

Keep us posted and good luck!

This is ONLY MY OPINION and I wish you the best!

There is no coughing from any of the deer at all. This has us really stumped. Our 2 year old buck seems to be the most effected and he is not eating as well as usually although still taking in some and today was the first time in a couple of days I saw him actually move quickly around the pen.

We just wormed them last week. Could this have caused an issue? Do we need to do another round?

Ive used a new drug called Zactran. It blows Draxxin away, and its $150.00 a bottle cheaper. It knocked my pneumonia out cold. Awesome stuff-Jason
