Ive been having some blue tongue cases. Lost a fawn a week ago and have another one starting with it.

I also lost a yearling buck and a yearling doe some weeks back.

He is 6 weeks old. The vet recommended .5 cc draxxin, .5 cc excede and .5 cc banamine. Gave it to him last night together with some probiotics but have seen no effect at all. Same as with the fawn I lost already.

Will give him another .5 cc banamine and 1cc of biomycin tonight. Any thoughts?

I am waiting for the results from a lab that took some samples from the other fawn we lost.

Help!

Steroids are the most important to stop the virus from destroying the blood vessels. add 2 cc dexcamethasone(2mg/ml) im with excede(3cc per 100 sq) and banamine(1cc per 100 im).. Forget about not using NSAIDs and Steroids at the same time if you want them to live.. EHD/BTV cuases the immune system to over react and causes all the blood vessels to ooze, dexamethasone will stop the autoimmune disturbance and will help your deer with this viral problem.. God bless and good luck!!!

Thanks for your post. I felt totally abandoned for a while.

I will look into dexcamethasone to follow up with it.

The fawn seems to be reacting. Gave the first and third day the draxxin, excede and banamine formula and the second and today the forth day will repeat the biomycin and banamin shots.

But yesterday I had a new fawn starting with same symptoms. This last one reacted perfectly to the first shots and is almost as good as new, but I will continue with the treatment until fully recovered.

Thanks a bunch

Be very cautious with draxxin and fawns.. the 2 just dont mix well.. Just mine and Dr McBride's 2 cents worth...

Why is it that they don't mix well? And what would/could be the negative result thereof?

I agree with the suggestions, but just for what it is worth, I would add a daily probiotic. I have had very good success with Fastrack made by Conklin, this is more of preventative, but will also help with the drugs as it helps the immune system.

Will also help rebuild the immune after the drugs have done there job. I start from the day they are born so the body can build a strong immune system to fight off those bad viruses ect. Hope that helps. If I can be of any other help let me know.

Thanks on the advice on draxxin and fawns but I am concerned as it seems to be the only thing to have made a difference. I treated the first one with Nuflor and PenOnePro which is penicilin and it had no effect. We are being careful in the amounts of draxxin and only putting .5cc every other day and just three times.

My fawns are all mother fed but calm enough to get a hold off, so together with the shots we are giving them some probiotic fawn paste, as we did when they were born. We are also putting some Shock effect conditioner mixed with calf manna.

Hopefully this will do it.

Thanks
