Sores on Fawns

We have several spots on our fawns that we have never seen before. These spots are a perfect circle, dark in color, and about the size of a dime. Several of our 15 we are bottle feeding apparently have only one of these spots, not multiples. On the side of the face is where one's is, and the side of the body is where 2 other's are. What could these spots be and how do we treat? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I have the exact same thing....they seem to heal on their own. But what the heck are they?????



I have not noticed any on the body, but several of my bottle feds have them on their face. I do have some fawns with more than one. I have not a clue as to what they are. You can see them develop under the hair. They are raised and crusty. The crust them falls off and that dime size black spot is there.
 
That is exactly what I am dealing with! I thought they were ringworms but speaking with Scott (I posted pics on the thread "Please Help" he thinks it's a bacterial infection. Strange that a lot of us seem to be dealing with this. Really makes me wonder - I have never seen it before. Just like U they are only on the ears/face.
 
I just want to add 1 more thing - I spoke to a vet yesterday in Northern Ohio who deals with deer/cattle. He said his cattle have had a bad ringworm outbreak this year - worse that he has seen - So maybe it's a different strain of ringworm. I don't know but it makes me wonder - and makes me nervous.
 
You are very lucky you live in Ohio... You have access to a Great deer vet...I can tell you... I wish he was licenced in PA because He is a great guy and a great Vet!

Funny - that's it - Sugarcreek Vet - I spoke to Dr. Travis Thompson - SUPER SWEET!! Unfortunately - I live in Southern Ohio (4 hrs from Sugarcreek) so I have only been able to speak to him by phone. He helped me out a GREAT deal 2 yrs ago when my oldest doe was very ill. He told me what meds to give her - I got them and within 24 hours she was back to normal. Even though my girls are not pt's they have been VERY helpful - they truely care :) I was even able to get the EHD vaccine from them last year - based on my experience with them - I can't say enough good things!
 
I have they same spot's on my bottle fed fawn's.Not like the one's in the picture's.But like Redwood said,only on the face not on the body.The one's on my fawn's are a little smaller than a dime,but they are black and crusty.Please post pic's redwood.Thank you
 
Kydeer - my pics look a little worse because I have been treating the wounds with blu-kote - so they are purple colored. But, when they first form they are perfect circle, black and crusty - that is why I thought ringworm. However, the two on my young does face started the same but then started to ooze - I think because she has been scratching them. The ones on her ears are not oozing - I will try to get a better pic as well. Wonder what we have here?
 
Here are some better pics - hopefully you can see the sores better. The first two pics are of Nina - fresh sores. The last pic is Faline - sore started about 2 wks ago, scab fell off Wednesday - healing just fine - at least it looks that way.

My2 girls , looking at your pictures it appears to look like Fibromas or Fibropapillmas which is a virus. Just a thought !!
 
I gave my youngest 4cc's of LA200 earlier today - we will see how these sores respond. Thank you for your input - I appreciate it!
 
I have seen ringworm ooze, also crusty of course. The dark color threw me, but now that you say you were treating it with blue kote that makes more sense.
 
On full grown deer you could use 2cc to 3cc of ivomec-plus sub cut. The quarter to half would be for a fawn.
 
Thank you all so much for the suggestions. The sores on the side of her face seem to be healing - they are not oozing anymore - I think the blu-kote has helped with that. It's driving me nuts because my oldest just wants to lick the blu-kote off the youngest - yuck! I do have some Ivomec pour on - I treated them about 2 months ago with it - I usually alternate between that & Safeguard. I am more nervous now about EHD & this Blue Tongue with her immune system being compromised with this virus :( Sure hope there are not any cases in Southern Ohio.
