I am Spraying for flies, house, yellow and horse, Mosquitos and MIDGE Flies. Everything I have tried has not really worked. I have small pens and I am in them All Of the Time. Cleaning up everything. Keep the grass cut. They eat me and my deer up!

And I have bunches of White flying things.

What are ya'll using? Everyone probably has a misting system except me? :) and how do you keep it off of the food and water, and I have tried Swat. Which works. But, they Like it off as soon as they smell it.

Thank You!!

I am having good luck with fly predators this year, in addition to the fly jar traps they sell at tractor supply. The fly predators are for sale at Jeffers livestock. Com they are a little bug that eats the larva of the fly, but the predators themselves do not bother animals or livestock. I still use traps for the adult flies. My deer typically only have a half dozen flys on them, if even that many. I don't spray at all.

I just bought a gallon of  garlic you put in a pump sprayer for mesquitoes ,ticks and other pest. We started yesterday and sprayed around but will have to wait a couple days to see if it works. It was in the low forties today so the bugs hibernated.Let you know if it works if it ever warms up.

Antlershed,

I was going to order some again. But, I was so affraid the with all if the spraying that I would kill them too.

Here is my schedule, in the pen waiting for the sun to wake up. Then the bugs come out in Force. And the Force is With them. I spray. 1 to 2 gal. Go to work. Come back hopefully by 5pm. Immediately spray. Then I fog with the stuff that Buck Trace Ranch. I do both. I am terrified because, I lost 1/2 of my very small herd. My money making buck and a doe.

Ok. I get the wasps that love the flies.......And I stop spraying and fogging. What do I do about the Midg flies and the Mosquitos . And these white flying this by the trillion?

THANK you so much for replying

I have an A1 mist sprayer. spray with permitherin every night (weather permitting).so the

Permitherin do you mix it with anything... When you spray, what are your precautions with the food and water. And them licking it off of each other.

I'll take my permitherin and spray the shady, grassy areas that my deer "normally" hang out in. Average once a week, and I'll just go do it while I'm feeding. Mix it with water per the directions, but there isn't any negative side that I've seen in 6 years.

Do any of you have little White things flying all around? If so, what are they? I have Millions! And nothing seems to help, or there are "new" ones that have not been killed yet.

I am new to your forum.  Not sure who referred me to you all, but I am grateful they did.

A year ago I rescued a little buck (found near a dead doe on the side of the road).  What an adventure it has been!  I admit I have a crazy-love-thing going on with this critter...  But I digress...

Regarding spraying for ticks, lice, etc, I took the advice of somebody on this forum and have been using Permethrene (sp?) every couple weeks.  I spray my little barn where the deer keeps company with my sheep at night and during these hot summer days.  I also allow the mist to drift over both deer and sheep.  Happy to report that I can't find a single pest on their legs and torso.  Sometimes I "swab" their ears with a sponge saturated with Permetherene (sp?) as I ocassionally find "something" in the bucks ears that suck blood.  I haven't gotten a good look at one because I wipe out his ears when I see them, crushing them.

I am intrigued about the garlic spray and hope those using it share their results.

Thank you,

Dyan

Remi: Sorry I didn't get back sooner. The garlic is working great.Still have a few mesquitoes and a few flies. I have been using a lawn sweeper behind my lawn tractor and sweep up most poop weekly and spray with permithrin and cover with a tarp for a week to destroy any fly eggs that might hatch. The consecrated  garlic is 85 a gallon. I mix 4 oz.in 2 gal. sprayer and spray weekly. It is called mesquitoe barrier but works for other bugs. The company is called Garlic research Labs 624 Ruberta Ave. Glendale Ca. 91201. 800/424/9828   Was free shipping. In all my lifetime I have never seen hundreds of mesquitoes

on my deers back like we had this year. I have only seen a couple on the deer since I started using it.

When using permethrin always add PBO as a synergist. Permethrin alone will give some residual protection, when mixed with PBO it provides a knock down kill also

So your saying mix permethrin and PBO together then spray/mist? Where can I find PBO?

Yes, the concentration of the product you purchase will dictate the ratio. We carry both 37% permethrin and 91% PBO with a recommendation of a 1/2 oz. each per gallon of water. Your local feed store should carry something similar, if not let us know.
