Hello, My name is Mike and I am looking into starting a Whitetail farm in the next 2-5 years in NY. I know thats a ways off but this is what I want to do for my career. I am 22 and finishing up college. My plan is to hold a decent job until I have my finances in order and can jump into this with nothing holding me back. I am starting to get my information gathered now that way when it comes time to open I will have a rather good base of knowledge about what Im doing. With that being said I know some people that will be willing to help me when Im starting with land, the primary goal of this thread is what are the things that will impact my start up cost other than land, fences, initial herd, and facilities. Also what types of facilities am I looking at regarding breeding, bottle feeding, and housing.

I plan to use the next 2 years to visit as many farms as I can to learn as much as posible as well as learn as much through these forums that I can. Building a network of individuals who know alot about this is a primary focus as well. Anyone with information that is pertinent would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks I have contacted him about sharing information. I am currently living in Nashville TN untill I am done with school. I will be visiting Farms in NY this summer, Four Seasons, and hopefully Northern Whitetail as well. Untill then I move back I will have to see farms near here. I understand that there are no Deer Farms in TN because of law so I will be traveling to KY or possibly MO.

Go to joe and abe millers in kentucky they r right on the border of Tennessee. Their farm name is kentucky whitetails.

I appreciate all the quick responses. I was unable to find the contact info for joe and abe millers at kentucky whitetail. If any one has info on them i would highly appreciate it.

Wayne I appreciate your invitation hopefully I am able to make it up that far. Probably not until next summer though
