I just read something about the stool not suppose to stink? Is this literal? Stool is pretty firm however it does have an odor. Is that ok?

Falesha i don't know where you read that a fawns stool won't stink (and I'm not being disrespectful here maybe someone has a much stronger stomach than I) but beleive me they all stink..........now what they may have been trying to say is when a fawn is ill and it gets the scours a lot of the time when they have ecoli the stool smells really, really bad.......but as long as your fawns stool is firm and they are acting and eating good you are fine!!

If you have to put it to your nose to smell it , then it is probably ok....if you can smell it from any distance or is very strong....could be a problem. Our bottle feds just went through a runny session and the smell was bad. This morning the stools were better and you had to hold it up close to get a wiff and it was very mild now. Jim

i must have a strong nose cause it all smells to me the second it comes out......now mine are in pens.............but then the sick ones the have a pewtred smell.

Just another opinion. Stinky poo is first sign of a problem, if poo is stinky enough, you notice it.most likely milk is souring on stomach, usually softer stools, lot goat farmers say you can smell cocidiosos, and runs well sure smell.a healthy fawn pooping normal, does not stink less you stick it under nose, but that pretty redneck. if fawn is farting when feeding, milk is souring on stomach. or gassig up, need to dilute or change, when fawn is peak health, stool is firming, starting to pellet, usually no noticable smell.coat and eyes is shinning, poo tells you alot. right milk or maybe right mixture, and no health issues, shouldnt have stinky poo!!! sometimes you just need to change milk, just like feed.dont get tunnel vision., watch for simple signs, coat and eyes ,poop!!! Dc PS bout forgot SUNSHINE< FRESH DIRT< GRASS TO NIBBLE does wanders.sometimes you need to quit adding all the crap, and let them be a deer. Oh yes another opinion.only if all these conditions are right and fawn is healthy, poop is good no gas, coat shining and, if your are limiting his feeding, you are holding him back.i dont like waiting 6 hrs and them loading up on bottle 4 hrs is my plan, all they want!!! this works for me DC Ps, never had one explode yet! Medications can stink, so when poo smelling use common sense,Dc

Dc your starting to sound like an " Old Timer", not as old as Monty ,Scott or Scrape but still old.

Imagine that!, what little i do know i picked up from reading From all the ole timers for few yrs. and trial and error,i still undecided who is the oldest, ole timer.? hard to tell. Ps Curtis, your ole timer but not sure you qualify for old yet! Ps fading got nothing to do with your health,or memory. only not posting in your fading old age ! DC

If flavor is good it gotta be right, go ahead let us know!!. Cant forget Mitch,Ross, and john, they ole timers. Dc. Ps it gonna have some smell,so if it does dont panic!!!,

ok this is what he eats 9oz every 6 hours of replacer, with one table spoon pumpkin, one yogurt. When I had to use whole milk for about 2 days his poop totally hardend up was a green, firm with pellets in it! However on the replacer he has softer poo! He is pooing several times a day! peeing alot...I am thinking that I should do 1/2 replacer 1/2 whole milk in bottles ...I know when I try to take away the pumpkin he gets the runs!

by the way he is acting great, running around and playing. He does have pellets, deer corn, grass, water, and sunshine all available.

what formula are you using? Are you mixing it with water? WHat Ratio? I have fawns that I have to mix zoologic a little thin or they get soft. No runs just soft.
