I just wanted to inform everyone that Sudden Impact passed away last night.

Thank you to everyone who called once they heard he had gotten sick. At this point we don't know the exact cause of his death. He did have some antler damage and maggots on the antlers which I am sure was a part of the problem

In regards to Sudden Impact he was truly an amazing animal. Our family has been very fortunate to have raised a good number of very nice deer but there has never been one close to Sudden Impact. I may be biased but in my opinion he is the greatest whitetail to ever live to this point.

Sudden Impact scored 281 as a yearling and 406 at age 2. This year at age 3 his rack scored 492 and weighed 31lbs. Had he not damaged he very likely would have scored over 500.

As we look back the name Sudden Impact could not be more fitting as this buck did make a Sudden Impact on our farm and the deer industry. Sudden Impact had an incredible group of sons on our farm this year. At a 160+" average, his yearlings will be 40-50" bigger than our average yearlings. Most have great big frames and great looks to them. We were not the only ones with great sons out of Sudden Impact. Thank you to those who chose to AI with him. Thank you for sharing with us the photos of your great yearlings out of Sudden Impact.

Sudden Impacts life may have been cut short but the impact this deer will have on the whitetail industry will live on forever.

Greg-

I am so sorry. You are exactly right, he will live on forever. I am so impressed with the yearlings he put on the ground this year.... what a group of HUGE framed sons he had!

I already told Shorty to let me know if there is anything at all I can do to help.

I've never seen anything like it, and to think of how many good years he woud have had ahead of him. Sorry again!

Greg, sorry for your loss and anyone else that may have recently lost their " best friend". His presence in the industry will be missed but I know that you will do your best to continue his legacy. Tough times require us to do the walking and let God to do the talking.

I am very sorry guys. I agree he is the biggest whitetail to walk to date, that I have seen. This has been the shitiest summer we have had in a long time up here in Wisconsin and have all seemed to have more problems than ever before. I cant imagine what it feels like to prodce a deer like him then loose him so young. Ill give ya a call

Greg,

This is shocking news and I am so sorry for your loss. He was an absolutely amazing whitetail. He will truly be missed not only by us in the deer industry, but by hunters and countless others who have been blessed to watch him grow these amazing antlers.

Its Unfortunate but he will not be the only "Super Buck" to pass this fall, what a shame it is when we loose these awesome creatures. Again Greg, I am really sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry for your loss. When I saw that Sudden Impact passed away I felt sick to my stomach. Last year when I saw the video of him I was blown away. I watched him grow all year on the biologic website and really am going to miss seeing him. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Greg i am very sorry to hear that such bad news. What a deer you guys have built there. That bucks name will live on forever and continue to set records. Sorry to hear the news.

Flees Family,

You don't know me at all, but I wanted to let you know that we'd be praying for you. Praise God that you were able to have such an amazing animal on your farm up this point. I'm thankful we were able to watch him grow along with countless others this year. God Bless!

Horrible news, So sorry, even though he was just three, I felt he had already reached the "Legend" status.

Sorry for your loss Flees family. Sudden Impact was such an amazing deer. I have really enjoyed watching him grow this year and wonder how far over 500 he could have been if he would have had the chance to finish out healthy with no damage. What a huge buck, what a huge loss, and what a huge sudden impact to your farm and the deer industry.

Dear Carol, Greg, Shorty and the Flees Team,

It is with great sadness to here of Sudden Impact passing. I know how much time you spend with animal health and stewardship of your deer.

:( Grey, Shorty, and the rest of the gang,

I truly feel your pain. This was the worst weekend I’ve had in the deer business since we lost Waylon.

This business can knock you in the teeth on a yearly basis. Sudden Impact was way ahead of his time and one of the greatest deer ever. We will all miss him! I guess some of God's most magnificent animals are also, at times, some of the most delicate.

On Saturday Mike Nedry had to knock down BamBam due to infection. While the antler removal went well, BamBam never recovered and we lost him also. Since Sudden Impact broke his 2 year old record, it is ironic that they passed the same weekend.

We also knocked Timberjack down today and had to remove his antlers. He was just acting like he didn't feel well and propping his antlers up on anything available. After hearing about Sudden Impact and going through the loss of BamBam with Mike, we had to do something. It went well but I’m worried about him. He is another great animal that has changed or farm forever!

I’m trying to keep positive but Its hard. I wish the best for the Flees family, for Mike Nedry and anybody else that has been through this before. If you have raised these great animals for any amount of time I know you’ve been through it.

Greg, call me if you need anything. I hope to check on you later this week. Mike, if you read this keep your chin up. Both of you have some of the greatest animals I’ve ever laid my eyes on.

Your friends in Missouri

Greg Carol and Shorty,

So sorry to hear about Sudden Impact, you are right his name fit him perfectly.
