Swollen jaw on baby fawns

Dang, I'd probably hit her again  with .5cc  Nuflor usually lasts several days, but I think it metabolizes faster than thought in deer.

you bad need some Draxxin.

she will need some probiotics orally after all these antibiotics also.

Ok update on my fawns.  First I want to say thank you all who took time to offer your wisdom to help save these babies.  Everyone seems to be responding very well to the Nuflor.  I had to give 3 doses to one and 2 doses to two.  One of the things we are thinking now is that one of the fawns came in with the bacteria from the major floods we had here in Wimberley.  We had 43ft flood that destroyed over 400 homes.  The bacteria was very high around the river area and several of these resue fawns came from flood areas.  I just wished I would have researched this a lot sooner but now we know.

So new question.  I have read on other post about worming fawns.  What are the thoughts of worming our rescue fawns since we won't be able to worm each year?  What is the best meds for that?

Either Safeguard (fenbenazole is the ingredient, same as Panacur), cheapest option is the horse dewormer, just use a small pea-size amount. 1 tube is for 1,250 lb of animal. Effective for tapeworm is Zimecterin Plus (again for horses), ingredients ivermectin plus praziquantel (that's for tapeworm). I use these for all critters, from kitten to chicken/turkey, sheep, dogs and the deer. The stuff must be terrible tasting though. Each animal HATES it, the cats and dogs start salivating to get rid of the taste, the deer wouldn't eat the apple slice with the stuff on it. Had to fix several "sandwiches" (appleslices with dewormer between them). On fawn I'd just take small amount on my fingertip and smear it unto their tongue. Both products available at TSC, about $10. My sheep readily take the safeguard alfalfa cattle pellets, but it's a little higher and can't be dosaged properly.

Glad to hear the little ones are doing better!

I use the Safeguard pellets on adult deer. Dosages are not a problem with the pellets as Safeguard does not have a "too much" dosage.

Get a fecal to see what worms you have.  If you have tape worms Safe guard or Valbazen use at double strength.  Valbazen is my second favorite wormer because it get most worms.  Valbazen is easy to feed in the milk or on food like grain.  As stated worm in 10 days to get 1st stage worms that were missed.

Thanks for all the worming info.

So my fawn that had the swollen jaw and a swollen knee still has the swollen knee.  She had one dose of 1cc first day then .5cc twice 3 days apart.  The swelling is coming down and it has been draining but still swollen.  Do you think I should give her another dose of Nuflor?  It's been 5 days since her last dose.

I have them on probiotics now too since they have had so much antibiotics.

dose her again, you do NOT want to "almost" kill that infection and let it come back with greater drug resistance.
