This is a bottle fed doe that is 6 years old and very tame. She just had triplets about two weeks ago, and for the past week she is running the fences, grunting, and following me around throughout the pen so close that when I stop she will physically run into me. She is acting like a scared puppy in the sense of having to be so close to me. She is still feeding all her fawns and being a good mother but I have never seen her like this and am starting to get worried. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice. Thanks

I would say she is quite likely sick and not feeling good physically and she is acting it out mentally with you. I would get a fecal exam done and if she is free of worms and coccidia, then accordingly, I would run her through the gammit of meds. OR - maybe nothing is wrong with her and she just acting ''strange'' for no particular reason that we can figure out. Just got to thinking as I was typing that my most friendly/tame doe used to do what you are describing once in a while and we never did figure out why, but she never did it for a week. It would be for a day and she never did it with fawns that I can remember. Always best to error on the side of precaution though, so I would look into treating her.

I had 2 Does do that for about 3 days after a dog tried to dig under the fence.
I fixed it by seeing if he could out run a 30.06, he lost the race.
Some of my 6 years of military Army Airborne training included rifle marksman ship to hit a 50 cent piece at 100 yards. (I rarely missed)
I also noted that they tended to avoid that side of the pen.
If this is the case that may be your problem when you are not around to observe it.

Thanks for the feedback! After reading your post about the dog attack I quickly recall an incident that involved raccoons crawling under our fence terrorizing and killing a few of our chickens while she was very close in an adjacent pen with her fawns. I believe soon after that her behavior began to change.

maybe she is looking to you for protection. Maybe you need to take a nighttime stroll with a good flashlight and a rifle, for safety of course.
