After I split up my fawns from the does this year 2 bucks 5 does. I have noticed 1 buck fawn keeps all the does together and the other buck fawn pushed away chases him rares up kicking at him and keep him pushed away from the does. He was the last one born on my farm but the fastest-growing he's bigger than all the rest of them. He's only 2 1/2 months old. Has anyone ever seen this on their farm with their fawns after splitting them up.

Jim,

I had never experienced that before, UNTIL this year.  We had a first time doe deliver twin buck fawns in June.  The fawns are Playboy (Bomax son) / 44 Mag daughter.  Anyways, she wasn't doing very well caring for the fawns, so they were taken from her at 5 days old.  We ended up losing one, and the other wasn't doing well.  At 10 days old he couldn't stand and could barely eat.  To make a long story shorter, I finally got some drugs in him that worked and within 2 days he was standing, eating and doing great.  He was always the smallest fawn, but the best eater and most playful.

He now has 1 inch hard buttons and has assumed the dominance over the 3 other button bucks....all larger and older than him.  This week we had a doe fawn come into heat.  He immediately was on her and acting like a 3 year old buck.  High stepping behind her, and snort wheezing at the other bucks.  I've never seen such a display from a youngster.

I am looking forward to the next couple of years to see what he grows in to.  One the other hand, this much attitude may be way out of control.
