On June 24, 1981, my beautiful nephew Chad was born. This was not just your typical birth, as his father, my brother Barry, was fighting the biggest fight of his life, CANCER. He was diagnosed with bone cancer 2 years prior. Barry was an die-hard trapper. This is what he did for a living and loved every minute of it. He was also a huge hunter. Several years later his battle ended. He left behind a beautiful wife and child.

His mother Deb later married a man by the name of Kyle. The day of the wedding I knew that Barry was happy as the sun was shining and there was a feeling of calmness that hung in the air. I will never forget little Chad walking up to me and asking if I thought it would be alright to call Kyle dad even though he knew that his fathers name was Barry. With a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart, I let him know that this would make his father very proud.

Today, I now have a beautiful great nephew named Brooks Barry Meurer. As I walked into the hospital room with Deb and Kyle to see these special people I again feel the sun on my face and feel this calmness in my soul. Life is ever changing, but some things stay the same. I know that this child will bring so much happiness to us all. Along with that, he will bring back fond memories of days gone by. This is the Miracle of Life

Thanks Darren. I was thinking this was to sappy for you deer farmers as no one had responded, but this is the fellowship forum. My brother was a HUGE outdoors person. It makes me proud to be apart of this.

Great story. Thanks for sharing. It does a body good to hear a comforting story such as yours. Allen

Thank you for helping us to refocus on what is most important, relationships. May God bless Brooks all his days. I know He will as long as there are Shellys in his life
