I have been saying things in the economy have been turning for the good but people just aren't listening to what I have been saying. I understand there is a delay process in people getting their jobs back, and seeing the stock markets rebound. Everyone wants to see the proof positive that things are turning.

But folks I am telling you the world cargo markets are moving! I have been getting emails from friends telling me to, "Stop playing around with those darn deer and get out here flying."

Apparently everyone at my company is breaking guarantee each month and they are getting burnt out with all the flying they are doing. (FYI, breaking guarantee means they are flying more each month than what the company pays them even if they do zero flying. Contractually we get a set amount of pay just for being at the ready for the company. And that set amount is a fair amount of hours so to say they are breaking guarantee is not a small thing.)

For example in 2008 I never once hit guarantee. Now these guys (yes there are women also) are consistently breaking it.

Also my company has just taken delivery of another new aircraft and they are looking at adding at least 1 more this spring.

Why do I post this?

Because everyone needs a lift. Winter is dragging on, prices have been soft, and everyone needs a boost of energy. I don't say these things to help potential sales at some auction coming up. Fact is I have nothing to sell in any auctions coming up.

I am excited though about returning to work. I can't wait to start class in May. Well, back to the books.

I just looked up OPTIMIST in the Webster's dictionary. My buddy Roger's picture was there. Thumbs up, Cap'n.

Roger, after having shoulder surgery twice this winter, I managed to spend a lot of additional time in front of the television. I try to keep up with the pulse of the economy as you have. A lot of the CEO's of these publicly traded companies are forecasting a better than expected 2010. But, as we all know, that could change if there are any major disruptions in our political, financial or energy markets. Glad to here you are returning to work, I am anxious about being able to work again. I just can't wait until I have the strength enough to pick up a chain saw again and just pull the rope. Good Luck, Jeff

DC

Scrape, There are many who know me who will laugh their butts off to read you calling me an optimist:p

Saline, Hope your recovery is a quick one.

DC, I just don't know what to think about your a/i issues. I just hope things improve for ya.

roger, im totally happy, at least with other buck they only bred once! I got few hands on , a pro is nothing but someone with lot exp! can see better now so,i will get it in time. by time things really turn around i should get it done!.i only having fun anyway.only thing that makes sence, i totally fed buck to much protien ,caused him to go sterile! i have learned lot in last 4 yrs, thanks to forums. Just wished lot more would get involved.Dc

Let 'em laugh, huh Rog....Let's go with something between a pessimist and an optimist......an analyst...that's what you are!!!

The economy has been slowly picking up for about six months. Basic materials orders used in the production process is pretty hot right now, chemeicals and polymers are wide open. Inventories are low around the country so the build up to meet demand and increase inventory levels will keep this section going strong. Hopefully consumer goods sales will start to show stronger results by the spring. Rehiring should begin early summer but will probably take one to two years to catch up.

If obama would set down and shut up the economy would pickup faster. Companies have no idea what the obama, reed, pelosi nuts will try next. This scares companies from investing for the long term. I cant wait until November to clean some of our legislature out. I believe we should replace all incumbents on both sides! Sick of the politics.

Roger

I sat on a plane last Friday next to a GoodYear executive over commercial and fleet tire buss, he also said that this segment is starting to show good signs, sales are increasing and more freight is being moved.
