Quick questions for those who use their feeders, I have always had mine under roof in small shelters in my pens. I am moving one into a new pen that doesn't have shelter. Question is that I use pelleted feed and do I need to worry about a little rain getting into the feeding tubes and soaking my feed. Do I need to build a little roof over the feeder

No Jens ....but they do have a cover that goes over the end of the snouts....that will help a lot....if you don't have them yes the snout that is facing the wind will get some moisture...just a couple scoops of the hand it's all ok......... Hope it works for you...I love the feeders....they work great!!

We use their feeders exclusively and have no shelters at all. It's exactly as Dennis describes. We just try to face the opening towards the East. In our area, most of our wind comes from the West.

Thunder valley feeders, you will have alot of waste. Go with the banks feeder. Call Matt at 218-289-5630 He is a dealer for these feeders and they work alot better.

And alot cheaper!

Doubt that as I got this one free!

I have the big four sided one so can't really face all them away from the predominant weather, LOL! I'll just put it out and see how it goes. Thanks all.

Jens,

You will be happy with the feeder........I have no waste from my feeders....they work great and you will soon find that out as well......good luck!

I have waste with my Thunder Valley feeder. Its not a heck of alot and really i cant see any of that style feeder not having some kind of waste. You always have that one deer that has to have the one piece of corn way up in the tube and then pulls feed out. I think you would have to have a feeder that they stick their head down into to not have any dribble out. Either way they are great feeders,Work awesome in the buck pens and hold a great amount of feed. Works for me!!!!

We use Outback feeders that are made in Texas. They are great. The nice thing is they have runners on the bottoms of the legs so you can easily move them. Just hitch them up to the truck or tractor and you can pull them to a new location. That keeps any spillage from building up around the base of the feeder. We really have minimal waste with these feeders, and they have a special center tube that works for fawns.

Thanks everyone for all the great comments!! I'm glad they are working out for everyone. If anyone has any issues, please give us a call or email us and we will try to help you work through your issues.
