So I was curious as to what everyone feeds there deer as far as treats. I have used alot of things but apples seem to work the best for me. I have been wanting to try peanuts and I've heard animal crackers work well too. Wondering about your thoughts?

Thanks!

I use Apple & Oat Treats made by Purina. Tractor Supply sells them. The deer really like them.

Huck a watermelon over the fence of each pen for about a week straight over 4th of July time.
Same with pumpkins in fall.
Maple branchs all summer.
I add peanuts to feed during summer time.

Not to change post but does anyone spray there deer with water? Mine like it and get all playful.

Thanks everyone for the reply's! We have also used the Apple and Oat treats but didn't have too much success with some would eat others wouldn't. Definitely want to try some of the others options as well. We are still getting rid of pumpkins each pen gets about 3 every couple days since Halloween. Some of the more tame deer I squirt with the hose they seem to really like it!!!

Our deer love animal crackers, or kids enjoy feeding the deer and eating some themselves. Lol

I feed peanuts and they go nuts for them lol. Don’t make the mistake and throw out to much corn and kill them. Wish I’d of thought about that before it was to late :(

I often find myself eating more of the deer treats than I hand out haha. Here is a thought we recently had an individual who was giving away watermelons and a lot of gourds. Can you over feed these? We have been giving roughly 6 to 7 Gourds per pen a night.

We do peanuts, watermelons in the summer, pumpkins in the fall, apples, horse treats any kind of cookies. Basically our deer will snack on just about whatever. We typically just try to stick to peanuts, I mix some in their grain from time to time.

Sam's club sells a 5# container of animal crackers for $5.98. Every time I walk out there with that jug all the deer come running to me. I think the key to giving a treat is about getting your deer close enough where you can get a good look at them. Animal crackers are a well liked cheap treat that brings them running to you.

My deer love peanuts, apples and grapes. You stand at the front of the pen and hold up the bag of grapes in the air and shake it and they all come running.

All great options! At the moment we're feeding carrots, peanuts, grapes, record rack golden deer nuggets and peanuts. Animal crackers every now and then. I feel like they look forward to treats a lot more than supper lol

All mentioned are good and I've done all, but did almost kill a buck with acidosis from too much corn. I get animal crackers from Sam's club, they sell a 5# box for $6.

i just lost a 10 pt that scored 196" by over feeding him corn.but some say the animal crackers and apples had to much sugar then the corn made a difference (asidosis) or corn toxicity i believe :(
