I chose not to post pictures much at all this season, but I feel I should post some info about the few bucks we had this year at what is left of the Independence Ranch herd.

We had only three bucks at the age of 3 years this season. One of those bucks has not yet been darted and moved to his new home so I have no score on him as of yet.

The other two bucks were unofficially scored by a friend at 240"@3 and 262"@3. Both of them would have scored more except I told the guy to be very conservative while putting the tape to them. Both of the bucks scored were sons of Max Thrust who this fall was scored at 288". These 2 sons are the only Max Thrust sons we had from him that old.

We also had four bucks at the age of 2 years this season.

The first one is a Max Thrust son and he carried a 8x7 mainframe with a total score of 208 3/4"@2

Another buck scored 184 3/8"@2

The next 2 bucks had damage to one side of their rack. Taking the inside spread from the center out to the inside of the good side and using the score from the good side times 2 gave them the following scores.

A Max Thrust son scoring 204 1/2"@2

and a

Updraft son scoring 303 2/8"@2

By the way the Updraft son comes out of a Max Thrust daughter.

If your wondering the gross score of the Updraft son using ONLY the antlers AS IS and with NO inside spread credit at all it was 268"@2. Oddly enough Updraft scored 268 4/8"@2, so it would seem Updraft can produce sons even larger than he himself scored.

Sure wish I still owned part of him:(

But I still own part of his womb brother Downdraft and I am excited to see what he produces in the next year or two.

I do have Downdraft semen for sale. Email me at,

[email protected] for details.

Thanks for looking,

Sounds Like Max thrust is a producer also.

Yes Nick and thanks for noticing, Max Thrust is a really good producer. Adam Rowland in MN purchased and then used him for live breeding this past fall and I believe he has some offspring on the ground that he is very excited about. He actually also bought and still owns the mother to the 262"@3 buck mentioned above. So he was able to breed full brothers and sisters.

Adam has made some really good improvements to his herd the last couple of years.

The real strength in Max Thrust and his pedigree is the mass and the mainframe points he adds to his offspring. 6x6, 7x7, and better is what is showing up.

I do have 5 straws of Max Thrust semen I have been keeping for my own personal use. I intend to use one or two of them in the near future.
