URGENT! How to treat mastitis?

Our 2 year old doe just gave birth to her twins the 14th. Today she has a swollen, red area of her udder that looks like mastitis. There are not vets here that know about deer. I need help deciding what to do. She is one of the family and REALLY don't want to lose her! Can anyone help?

Does it have to be treated? Or will it get better on its own? I don't know anything about this condition. All I have read is worst case scenarios.

Dyani, I have found it best to sedate them and medicate. They do make masititis tubes for cattle you can try. I give mine banamine, fluids, exceed, and tetradure. Will take a couple days to clear up. Ryan

Thank you very much. Now I just have to pray the local vets will give me prescriptions. There is no way I can take her in. Do they usually give medications if they don't see the deer?
