Was going to worm with valbazen. Not so sure now. I've heard, or read not during the first 45 days or last 45 days of pregnancy. I've also read, not at all on pregnant does. Any thoughts?? Was also wandering, most likely for future use, what dosage are you giving them?? Thanks.

That would be correct. Don't use on pregnant does or pregnant elk as problems will be caused. A better choice would be Ivermic on the feed or Safe Guard on the feed. I just follow the directions on the product used.

Ok, I probably need to start over. I was wanting to use valbazen for liver flukes. Been doing a lot of reading lately, and liver flukes seem to be a very real possibility. Not going to use it right now, but would like to know how much you give specifically for liver flukes. That, and maybe what other options do I have right now in regards to treating pregnant does for liver flukes?

Thanks dc and Jack. Dc I'm one of the many waiting patently for your site to be up and running. I hope things are getting better for you.

You could use Ivermic Plus and that will kill large liver flukes only. It should not cause any problems for your does unless they are very heavily infected. In which case you should give some antibiotics for infection which the dying flukes might cause.

Depends on your liver flukes. The ones we have in MN won't be touched by anything, but valbazen. We use to fluke with Ivermic Plus and lost about 5 animals to flukes. Since then we have been using Valbazen on Red Deer, Fallow Deer and Whitetail Deer. Never had a problem with pregant does as long as you stay 45 days away from conception and birth. Just keep in mind there are different kinds of flukes depending on your region.
