How does everyone keep there water troughs clean I have 50 gallon troughs and seem to need scrubbing out every second day. I have a friend that raises race horses and he buys some type ball at local feed store. Have also heard of putting small amount of Clorox in trough Any thoughts ?

Clorox is good I think it a ball or bale of barley. I had it in my koi pond and horse trough. Did great until they discovered that it was fun to play with. I just have not put in mine. Yet

Not both. The Clorox and the barley did not mix well. When I did the two together.

It was barley. How much Clorox is safe I have well water so there is no chloride in water already .

I use one cap to around 50 gal.and have had no problems. Not saying its right, its just what I do.

Clorox Bleach will act the exact same as chlorine does in your public water system and will not harm you or your deer

I use white 55 gal barrels cut in half water stays cooler and it never turns green. Still have to scrub to keep clean. I have always said if I wouldn't put my face in it to drink it ...then scrub it! Charlie.

Charlie like that if you wouldn't put your face in it scrub it and that's what I'm doing just seems to need scrubbing everyday but that's alright to thanks.

Visited a really nice deer farm over the weekend and noticed how clean his water troughs looked so i questioned him on this and he said scrubs them out every third day he also mentioned he adds 3 caps of hydrogen peroxide. Any one heard of this are have thoughts on this
