Until recently I was deer farming with my father until he passed away in October. He always took care of weaning the animals and unfortunately I was not present. I am looking for ideas/recommendations on the best way to separate the fawn from its mother? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We keep ours near their mothers. It reduces stress and keeps them calmer. We are actually redoing some of our pens so that after the does fawn, we can open 2 gates and give them as bigger area to run. Then when we go to wean, we will seperate the fawns into 1 part and the does into the other part. This way they will be in their "home range" yet and near thrir mothers. Then after a week or two we will open the fawns pens together and let them mingle and explore at their pace. Then after they are comfortable we will sort the bucks and does apart and move them to their next pens.
