I went out for my 2 p.m. feeding this afternoon. My tamest girl came running up to me attacking the bottle as usual. She sucked back 7 of the 8 ounces fairly quick, then spit out the nipple, not wanting the last ounce. She then walked one foot away bedded down, tucked her head into her chest and died right in front of me. She went from 100 percent normal and healthy, to stone dead in under 30 seconds. Never seen anything like it, it was actually the most peaceful death I ever seen in a fawn, but I can't even begin to think why she died so suddenly. My guess is she may have been born with a weak heart, or some kind of heart condition and it just failed on her this afternoon. I guess you never know what you will see when you bottle feed a fawn.
