Was just wondering what genetics folks are building their breeding program around ?

For me its Maxin/Maxin Eagle and Peacock/Maxbo Ranger after this years fawns the majority have Double Maxin , Double Peacock or Double Maxbo Ranger and many have both!

These are my main focus but have a few more for this fall.

Just curious what others are focusing their program on ?:)

Great thread Wayne. Sounds like you have some great genetics. We are based around the Maxbo line and now some Flees. Hopefully we can get some good crosses going on. Our next step is going to mix in some southern genetics.

Rolex.......highroller.......Goliath ..........banshee........ H10.......legend......... Timberjack.....i know they inter mix...but it is what it is......lol....thats to name a few......and they are doing just fine by me...and my buyers!! Like the thread

Being that my bottom line is stockers i am working to have 400 to 500 inch blood on the bottom bred with anything that has 30 inch beams and 30 inch inside spread. I like to go off the beaten path and like to cross instead of going with one or two lines!

So far,So good!

Mostly Patrick, Seems like no interest anymore(and that's a shame)

With some Maxbo, Willy, Wayon, Waldo lines thrown in.

Guess I'm way off the beaten path. It's more interesting not doing what everyone else is doing!

My herd is built around just proven does. Generally speaking as far as genetics it is Flees, PA Geronimo, Maxbo, Highroller, Patrick. This fall I will be adding Texas Tea because of his line bred characteristics. But the doe lines are proven and proven crosses first and foremost. I am a line breeder so I design my breedings to increase predictability using the most powerful animals in the correct places in the pedigrees to increase their influence on the offspring.

Oh we have some of the Patrick line thrown in the mix. There will be atleast a couple does that will be bred solid Patrick this fall!

Hey Todd I like your deer herd! I got a lot of Patrick too. Have you ever took a tour at Eddie Ray's? More big bucks at one place than Ive ever seen!

I like this thread, Good idea Wayne

Sense I just started my herd last fall, I choose to focus around Maxbo line since he has proven so many times on most crosses. (Maxbo727 & Maxbo Impact)

Our base herd was Jack the Ripper. We've added High Roller, RDM Goliath, Blue Mt. Bill, Avalanche and a few others. We've created our own lines by the various crosses - especially with the Jack the Ripper foundation. The Jack/Blue Mt. Bill crosses have been phenomenal! Our High Roller stuff has been super as well! We prefer not to do what the masses are doing. Seems like some lines EVERYBODY has - so trying different things here with good success. By the way, may sell a couple of our Jack the Ripper does this year.

I have chose the way of the A-TEAM 30 inch beams and long tines. Arty, Amazon, Amos, Simply Amazing and Ammunition. I also like P A included! Seems to me that I am also going down a different path then most. JIM SIMONSON

I am limited here due to the prevelance of ehd. So I stick very close to Texas Bucks on top of pure southern does. Mostly for me that means Gladiator and Bambi line. Last fall I also bred with Abilene, a 38 inch wide South Texas buck. I also have fawns coming from Chicken Fry and Raisin Cain which are offspring of Maxbo on a Texas doe and bred those to pure southern does. I can't wait to see how a 1/4 northern does here.

My lines a being bred for the antlers but with a big part being surviveability.

Anything 30 inches plus inside or 500 plus inches im not racists I will breed withany line thats going to give me big shooters and good does but i like the pa Geronimo line

I have a vision of having all my core doe herd with 500"+, 30"+ inside, 50"+ outside, and 250"+ mainframes. I have a couple with 2 generations deep like this but am striving to get 5+ generations like this. Trying to create this breeding I have found I got to be open to any blood lines.

I also have a vision of trying to create a buck with a 300" mainframe. I think this is still a few years away but am trying to cross some giant 250"-270"+ mainframes together striving towards this goal.

I also Love proven girls like roger stated.
