I've just secured a doe fawn for the operation, and just wondered what you guys think about what has worked well with Hydroax in the past? Her pedigree is

O-60 (HYDROAX/LONER/R-2) The Loner doe is Blue-10 (Dam to D&K Whitetails CRAFTSMAN-260"@3YR. The R-2 is Mom to Walk's SOLO, which is Walker/ JB . Oh yes I almost forgot, Blue 10 is grandam to HYDROPOWERAX! Ill appreciate any suggestions - Jason

Jason,

We have a full sister to your doe on our farm, last year she gave me buck fawns out of my back-up buck, LT (Linebacker/Maxbo/Red 8). This year I A.I.'ed her to GD Big Sir and I have a good feeling she took. I really like Big Sir on top of this breeding, not sure if it is going to work but i sure am excited to see what she gives us in the spring!! Also have a coming 2yr old out of her and Raxbo (Maxbo/Poncho) he was a runt last year b/c he was a late July born fawn, but he put on alot of body mass this fall and winter. I'll try to keep you posted on how the bucks turn out in the summer...if i forget just give me a ring or shoot me an email and ill keep you updated. Good luck with that girl I really like the breeding of these girls!!

Thanks for a reply Jarrid! That's good to know we have full sisters breeding different directions, that way we can experiment! I just noticed that a few different bloodlines have been used with good success. Most have been sired by Hydroax, not from daughters though. David told me he had two full brothers @ 2 yr old. One was 200"+ The other 275"-300" to our doe's. That's definitely good to hear.

I got 3 breedings from him Hydroax/loner/walter/shock an awe dam, Boomerang/408/Rolex/408, and Wallstreet/j44/j44 Buck and doe from each. Will post pics as they grow out

Jason Red 2 was a Hammer. She had several really outstanding sons for us. One thing is for sure all her sons had extreme width, like 28"+ inside on several sons bred different ways. Hope that can help you and Jarred out with the breeding decisions. Good luck!

Those 2yr olds are womb brothers to my girl...the raxbo son was a result of her being exposed as a fawn. I am very glad to her those boys did so well I saw them as yearlings but was unable to see them this year. do you know if David kept them to grow their 3yr old racks??

Thanks for the info Russ, I will definately keep that in mind when making our 2012 decisions.

Jarrid I'm not sure about that. Likewise, Russ I appreciate your post. Maybe she needs line bred back into Russ Walk breeding?

Jason, If you really want to know what will cross the best with HyDroax give Mark Pierce a call he's got some monster sons on the ground down there. I bet he can give you a hint on what to cross her with! He's even got a 300" yearling on the ground and 23+" wide this year!
