I have a deer friend that all of his deer have white puss coming from the eyes. From young to small they all do. He has treated for pink eye and to no avail. I used to tell him it was a form of allergies but maybe I'm wrong. Any ideas?

I would be running a bag or two of Aureomycin mixed in the feed depending on herd size!

Going through old posts.

Mike. What's the aureomucin used for?

I'm not familiar with it

One of my yearlings has a slightly swollen eye with a very small amount of puss/discharge comming from it. Would it be ok for nursing does also?

It's an antibiotic given to various livestock through feed or water.  You can give it to chickens, turkeys, etc.  You could go to Jeffers Livestock or similar farm site online and read about it.

If no response here, I will look at it online. But I would like to have input from a deer farmer and how they use it. To my understanding aeuromycin is not intended for deer. So doses and uses would not be listed for deer.

While reading the Kerr wildlife studies on deer over a period of thirty years I noticed in their feed recipes two different times Aeuromycin was listed as a continuously fed feed ingredient on two separate records. I don't mean to hijack the thread as Josh once told me but has anyone tried the Aeuromycin 80g crumbles in their pellet? We have always used 10g in our top dress the first three days of the month or during periods of stress.

Sorry buddy. Somehow i did not see this. Listen to Wayne. He is the man when it comes to alot of this stuff. Thats how i caught on to alot of this stufffffffff.             Good Luck.

Thank you for the replys.

I'm still wondering how much per 100 Pds of feed, and is it ok for nursing does?

We mix about 1 cup of 10g crumbles per 50lbs of feed. I don't think it would hurt fawns nursing their moms even if you over do it. Any of my deer will get lose stool if I add to much. Aeuromycin in my area is most commonly available in 2g,10g, and 80g crumbles. We use it more as a preventative and not as a treatment for anything specific. It also seems to help in the spring with weight gain.

If you read the Kerr study Jerri Lee posted under Sucker tines setting industry records their feed recipe is described in detail more than once. It was developed by the PhD's, DVM's, and biologist working at the facility. They give the amount of Aueromycin used continually in their feed recipe. You could calculate your questions answer from that data.

Good luck
