Looking to plant a small food plot in and around a bunch of trees and grain feilds. In your opinion what is the best overall food plot for early season through late fall?

If you get alot of sun and neutral soil I like clover, If its a rough area with partial shade Id go with whitetail institute no plow, Clover and alfalfa work the best for me, good luck!!!

I also Like The Whitetail Institute. I plant Clover in my fawn pens, No Plow in my doe pens and Chicory Plus in my buck pens. I love the nutritional values and the durability to hold up to traffic and browsing.

Clover is great.....don't get rapped up with all of the pre mixed food plot stuff.......rip off if you ask me..........just go to local agway and get some clover.....u can mix some other stuff but clover is the best.....my opinion!

These guys are great, I've used them for years, call and ask for Dennis, he's an "ole timer" and might talk your ear off, but knows hos stuff and if he says if works, put it in stone!!!

For a food plot I like a white clover alfalfa mix sowed in a oat or wheat cover crop. I like the white Ladino over red clover but would be happy with either.

I am actually adding a new pen this year and leaving my smallest pen sit all summer. I was thinking about doing a brassica blend so there would be good greens late summer. And it would have tons of food to help with the feed bill in the winter. Anyone ever done this. The big and beasty blend from Frigid Forage works great for the free range deer I figured it would work even better if there was no deer in it when it was starting to grow.

Feel free Henry to respond to any of my posts with product advice and/or the availability thereof.

''Sell away'' Henry, and thanks for your heart to help!

I tip my hat to you crocket!

Takes a real man to ''back-pedal'' and then to apologize!!

The Duke(John Wayne), whom is my all time favorite western/cowboy actor, brought to the big screen some attributes that most of us found appealing in one's character, but he used to say one thing on screen that I adamently disagreed with - He would say ''Never say your sorry...it's a sign of weakness!'

He was dead wrong in that statement!

In fact, ''saying your sorry'' and admitting you're wrong or misconstrued is a SURE sign of strength and denotes genuineness...and points to someone you can trust!

Appreciate ya crocket!!

We could do with a fairdinkum bloke like that down here.

You're lucky to have such good service.

Cheers Sharkey

Crocket, no need to say sorry, we all have our opinions and thank goodness we still have that right. I cannot imagine myself doing anything other then something in the deer business. Right now I am a dealer for many manufacturers, I am a deer farmer and I also take photos for many deer farms so you see how much I am invloved. I plan on attending the NJ banquet and have spoken to the president of your association when he attended our PA meeting here a few months ago. Call me anytime, even to just chat about deer

Matt, Mark, Neebe, Sharkey, thanks for your kind words, they really do mean a lot to me. Matt, I am so glad I could help you get those darts in time for your testing.

I said it in another thread, and I will say it again: thank you guys for how you handled this"disagreement". I think of situations like these in times when I need to exercise a little humility.

Crocket: What you said is not always easy. Kudos to you!

Henry: It says a lot about you that people stand up for you and your integrity. My friend Joe Rose would probably use this as a good example of Proverbs 27:2 in action.

I don't know you guys, but you are the kind of people that I like to know.
