I have had some emails from farmers offering semen from their typical bucks this year for breeding and i believe 1 was what i would call a typical rack. What is everyones meaning of a true typical whitetail rack??

Just my opinion but I think it more in 3 categories:

Non-Typical: lots of odd inches here, there and everywhere

Typical: a deer with clear-defined typical frame with outriggers, stickers, split brows, and maybe a split G2 or so

Net Typical ("pure" typical): a deer that goes into the score books as a "typical" and qualifies to be scored on a typical score sheet whether B&C, SCI, etc. You may hear once in a while "Slick Typical"... one that has zero non-typical inches.

Here's my example of a "TYPICAL" This guy has a super clean frame other than those brows. His extra inches on his brows are probably just enough to put him on a score sheet as a non-typical but how could you not classify this buck as a "TYPICAL" but clearly not a "NET TYPICAL".

Just look at the what is on the "TYPICAL ANTLERS 2012" thread...look how many of those bucks posted are not technically "true" typicals with less than 3% of trash/extras... on a 200" deer, we are talking less than 6 inches is allowed. I still think of MoneyMaker, DoubleWide, Excalibur, Hardcore Flame, etc. as "typicals" but each one of those bucks has more than 3% of extras, technically making them non-typicals. But I will go out on a tiny limb and say, I still would call these bucks "typicals".

Here is a typical buck we use. He was 2nd at NADEFA in 2010 as 3 year old typicals. His sheds scored 208 inches as a 6x6. This year he is a little larger and is a 6x7. His name is Hillbilly Jr., he is a Lethal Weapon son. I live bred him to our Weatherby does. He would do well as a "Net" typical buck.
