When do doe fawns come into heat? The fawns were born in the spring and we live in PA if that helps.

We heard they come in again in March but we're not 100% sure on that. And do you have an idea of how long they are in heat.

fawns can come in to heat any time after Christmas. I had a doe fawn breed once on Christmas Day. She had a July 4th fawn.

Anyways, I just had two bottle raised fawns in heat last week, March 8.

Early born fawns will come into heat in Nov,Dec,Jan. Later born will come into heat Feb & March. Up north we do not want late fawns born after August. They would not have a winter coat on by Nov and freeze to death. On the first of Nov,Dec, & Jan we give them 1/2 cc of Eustrumate so we don't have a late single fawn. By waiting until they are a year and a half we usually have twins and the mom is at least two.

Lutalyse would also work, I imagine.

Autumn-A,

Rule of thumb: doe fawns 6 months of age, 60 pounds will come into estrus and run the same estrus cycles as any other doe. So the healthier the doe fawns, the more chance they will breed their first year. We normally, at Goodman's Whitetail Haven, pull all of our doe fawns out of our breeding pens due to the fact that we do not want our doe fawns breeding as fawns.

Thank you so much for all of the information everyone! It is very helpful! I knew there was a rule of thumb for when a buck fawn could breed, but I wasn't sure about the doe so thanks Mick!

Autumn-A,

No problem. Hopefully, what I passed on will answer your question.

Mick
