Owen,

I'm sad to say we lost WayAwesome to Ammonia. It sucks!. We had some really up and down weather this Spring with highs in the 90's one day and 50's and raining the next. We had a few deer that caught a "little something" and we treated them and got them turned around. But he just got worse and died one night a few weeks ago. He was born here and we bottle fed him so it was like losing a member of the family. He just didn't seem to respond to anything we gave him. I guess we are bound to lose some when we have as many as we do. But it still hurts! We haven't really talked about it and just concentrated on the growing deer and new fawns. He caught an ammonia at an early age and got over it but always had a little "wheeze" especially when it got warm. I guess it was just his time. I would really of liked to see him grow to 4, 5, 6 and beyond. We did breed with him the last 2 years so we have quite a few offspring including our first group of yearlings. We also have one really good collection of dense semen so we will hang on to that until we see how he produces. He will be missed. :(

Here are a couple of videos of this great 3 year old buck. I can barely stand to watch them!

Video One

Video Two

On a positive note Roger, Rim Rolex looks real good. He is going to be quite a bit bigger than last year but I'm afraid we will surely have to cut him due to the bigger right antler. I was hoping he would straighten that up but his left seems to have that injury "memory" that they get when they pull them out at the base. He is a little "skittish" so I haven't got any pictures yet but will soon! He is my favorite 2 year old ever. I can't wait to see how he produces. :)

Sorry to hear that Sam. He was a great looking buck. with a name to match.

I used a straw last fall, but it didn't take. Guess they can't all take, other wise there would be alot more big bucks running around.

Sorry to hear it Sam. He has been one of my favorite typicals the last few years a truly beautiful buck. He will live on in his offspring!

Well Sam since that left side is clearly injury I don't look at it as a concern. I am more interested in the style and dimensions of the frame on the right side. That along with his pedigree is desirable to me for use in a very special doe I own. It will be a great line bred matchup. Can't wait to see how he finishes out!
