Yes, it is disturbing! Unfortunately some people just act first without considering the implications of their actions.

I feel sorry for the baby - and wish that I could have saved it!

We try hard with our babies - We realize that as permitted rehabilitators in Texas that we will release the babies, but will have the memories of their special behaviors and traits with us always.

As to the race issue - seems to be something that's happening more and more - I suppose that we are not as integrated as some would believe.

The post's that followed the article are as disturbing as the action itself!!! Goes to show the hatred society holds toward one another!!! Scary stuff!! :(

This was my thoughts exactly - it's these same morbid people who would run a kid over while driving at high speed trying to get to the beach to save a beached whale. Or the same morbid people that protest killing a cougar that has been attacking small children in the hills of California.

There are beatings (people beating people) and kids killing kids which take place a number of times each hour in this country. There are children that are starving and abused in this country everyday. There are children that are battling grave illnesses but yet when a little old lady smacks a fawn with a shovel she is now a disgusting criminal? Give me a F'n break! More than likely the ol women didn't mean to harm the fawn and was only trying to "scare" it off. I guess every person who has hit a fawn or deer with a automobile and then left it laying at the roadside suffering is a better member of society. Hell, I just counted 27 deer laying along the road last night on my way to Johnstown. We better call animal cruelty and arrest those 27 disgusting people who accidentally killed all those deer and fawns.

Ok, I got the rant off my chest for the day - coffee or tea anyone...:D

Just watched the news last night up here in Canada. Some woman left a party, kidnapped a baby (I think 16-18 months) from her bed in that house and proceeeded to smash the babies head into the sidewalk (across from the house) repeatedly until her face was unrecognizable! A teenage boy ran the woman off and saved the baby. The woman is said to have been drinking and drugs were a possibility...

What goes through the heads of some people? Just goes to show how depraved our society can be.

Send the baby beater to western Pa,we know how to deal with that kind.I think were alot like Texans.

We don't cotton to baby beaters here!!!!

pretty straight laced and not too tolerant to these types of things.

Mr. Swank - Unfortunately this little old lady killed the fawn on purpose. She told her neighbor that she smacked it once on the head - it screamed - she then smacked it two more times on the head then it died. She thought it was going to bite her head off when it screamed. OH PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This fawn weighed 20 pds and it was just curled up in her garden. She also told her neighbor that she wanted to lay it out in her yard to warn the other deer of what would happen if they got into her garden, but instead she kindly put the dead fawn in a cardboard box and drug it out the the street next to her trash. PATHETIC!

I cannot have compassion for someone like her. If it were an accident, well, it would still be sad, but I would understand. BUT - this was NO accident. She even went as far as to say she would do it again!

What a wonderful world in which we live. :(

Thanks for sharing the info Gail, I hadnt seen the video before, but it sure did ruin my day! She would have big problems if she lived near me!

I hear ya Neeby. Some people can overlook things like this, how, I don't have a clue, but as for me - I can't. I want to see people that do things like this severely punished. For those that don't agree - oh well. If she were my neighbor...................well, we would have a "coming to the Lord" meeting.

Ohdeer - that story you posted is quite disturbing. That poor baby girl - I hope the person who did that gets what she deserves. I think the punishment should fit the crime - an eye for an eye. Would this world be as bad as it is if that were the case?

I don't know how judges still have jobs after somethings.

You would think there would be such out rage in a community when some one is let go for something so openly wrong...

But it happens again and again...

I worked at a shelter doing undercover work...Two sisters were running the place they would use half of the medicine to kill cats and dogs with and put them in the freezer to die alive...because it made their kill to adoption rates look better...The way they were caught the first time was they had put a dog in the freezer alive...When the waste collectors game to get them it was alive...We started surveillance...I had to sit by and document everything...I couldn't say anything... I just had to write it down...I watched as animal after animal was killed...I ended up killing them myself, because I knew if I did it they got done right...It was living hell... but everyone... they wrote bogus reasons for killing...

The only thing I was aloud to do was document it...I went in one day and my favorite cat was gone...I knew what they did... I called my husband at the time and told him he had to come in...bring the neighbor...She acted like she wanted to adopt a dog... I sent everybody home... told them I would stay over to close the deal...Ran in the back...into the freezer and she was so cold and dying...I couldn't do it...I got the fatal plus drawn up in the syringe and told my husband how to do it...I have about a hundred story's just as bad as that one...but some judges don't care...You can drive yourself nuts...Trust me I know and care...

NOTHING SHOULD BE TORTURED...Why a judge can see that I'll never know

But sometimes you gotta quit reading and thinking or you'll go nuts

I spent many years overseas on various jobs. While working I got to come home (USA) for about 2 weeks every year so was not really to aware of what was happening here.

When I retired in 2000, I soon became aware that things had changed drastically here in the USA! I was really amazed at the changes.

Now that I've been back I'm not amazed any longer - just very disappointed in what we've allowed to happen.

Makes me want to withdraw and stay on my place with a big sign, "Don't mess with me!"

Have had problems with drug dealers using the country roads, night hunters, theives, trying to hire reliable (not good - just reliable) help, and the general attitude of people now-a-days.

Wish I thought it would get better; however, I believe that's it's going to get worse.

SAD!!!!!!

Hmmmmm - In Texas, I am pretty sure that killing a deer/fawn out of season is poaching. Very punishable.....to bad she doesn't live here.

PaintedMeadows: Wow! That is REALLY SAD! You are right - I was just telling my husband and my mother that I need to remove the computer from my home. It's like, you don't want to know because it makes you mad - but then I think, well, if I didn't know then I would not be able to take some kind of action - to try and stop that sort of stuff. For example: I sent emails to the Mayor and the Law Director asking that this woman be punished for what she did. The Mayor responded to my email and told me that there has been A LOT of public outrage over this situation and that he has received tons of email from all over the country. I would hope that with so much pressure from the public - law enforcement / judges would feel the need to pursue justice. If people did not respond and take some sort of action - then that need for justice would not be as important. But who knows.......Because then there are stories like the one in Wisconsin. Back in Jan 2009 - 3 men tortured and killed 5 deer with their snowmobiles. They circled and ran over the deer repeatedly. Broke the legs of 1 deer & left it there overnight to die. It had to be euthanized. They drug one to a tree - alive - tied it up and left it. It killed itself trying to get free. One deer had it's stomach ripped open when one of the *******s sat his snowmobile on top of it and took of. These morons were charged with felony animal cruelty charges and hunting out of season. The judge dismissed the felony charges of animal cruelty because he said cruelty to animal charges can't be levied against people who are hunting. WHAT THE???????

As far as killing animals - I can understand and agree that if an animal such as a coyote is "threatening" you or your family/pets - then you need to do what you need to do to destroy them. I just can't imagine situations such as this - an innocent, harmless fawn - being killed simply because this woman did not want it to eat her flowers. That - I cannot tolerate!

Texas John - I have had that exact same thought myself! If I could sit up here on top of my hill with just my family and deer/pets without ANY one bothering me - not have to deal with scumbags - I would be happy.

Robbie - I am not sure how this case will turn out. I think she is being charged with animal cruelty. Seems like if they try to charge her with both the judge may respond like the ***** judge in the Wisconsin deer torture case.

I'm done for now..........

Gail

That Wisconsin deer story makes me so mad...

But if I understand it correctly the judge can't charge them with cruelty because they were not owed animals...

What...So it isn't cruelty to torture them...

What... God owned those deer... CHARGE THEM!

or everybody in the state owns them because tax money pays for state game lands ect...They could find many ways around it.

I know if a deer gets loose here in PA you have to notify the DNR... it becomes their animal and they shoot and kill it...But if a person hits it in a car it's still your animal...What!@*#

Makes no sense. It's too complex for my mind to understand I guess. Makes me mad as hell though!! God created ALL creatures. The bible makes many references as to how we are to care for his animals. This web page brought tears to my eyes:

http://www.bible.com/bibleanswers_result.php?id=212

It's moving - because it's GOD's word and it shows how he truely cares for the animals he created. Proverbs 12:10 "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."

That scripture makes me feel bad for my coyote comment. But then I think - well, God also wants us to protect our "herd" like the good shepherd does.

As far as the Wisconsin deer story - from what I understand the lawyers tried to use that "not owned animals" excuse but the judge rejected that argument. I suppose that's the only decision he made that I agree with.

I'm still looking for that happy page!! LOL :) It's hard to find.
