Ok guys here is the deal.I have 2 buck fawns runnin together and they are 3 weeks old and drinkin 12ozs 3 times a day but i guess thats not enough for one of them because he wont stop suckin on his brother(I thoink you know what i mean, lol) anyways is there any way to stop this.I really cant break them up right now!!He does it at all times not just after bottles and im sure its not good for the brother on the recievin end,But then again mabey it is cause he just stands there and lets him do it!!!Any ideas it cant be good or healthy!!!

This behavior will hurt the suckee and get the sucker sick. The only way to stop it is to separate them or get a dairy goat to put in with them.

seperate them i actually had one fawn suck the rectum out of another fawn last year from the same thing. I thought I could stop her from sucking on the other fawn and i was wrong came home from work and found a fawn with her rectum sucked out from the inside not pleasant

If you feed straight red cap all they want you won't have this problem. I had this same thing happen til fed all they wanted with the red cap then no problems last year.

Mike, No i don't thats why i feed all they want right now at 2 weeks they are eating 16-24oz three times a day with no problem and are pooping pellets. If you are mixing replacer in you can not feed all they want or they will bloat.Seems they can't digest the replacer as fast thats why i went to straight red cap fawns are much more satisfied and content. When they are done eating they run play for a while then sleep til next feeding.

PS try putting peepper spray on yourself then tell us all the results

A spray bottle of vinegar has worked for us, and doesn't do any burning or damage. I don't think it is about being hungry, so please don't allow them to gorge and create a whole other set of problems. This behavior is more about the suckling/bonding tendancies they need to fill. Separation is the sure-fire safe bet to keep them both healthy in terms of physical damage or ingesting urine.

everybodys opinion makes perfect sense.Iwould try any of them.we use red cap program from rick and no prob's.first time with three new ones.As for the rectum thing???weird and WOW

Yup you had a heated one goin with eric but yas worked it out!!!Anyhow i did use the spray bottle with viniger and no hot sauce!!So far it has been working!!! Knock on wood!!

The heck with virgil....He wanted me to put some of that pepper spray on myself.HaHa

But i guess you might expect that from a goat farmer!Mabey someday i can get down to see his goats...and mabey check out his deer too!!!!

Virgil probably uses that pepper spray to hold the goats at bay until the neighbors leave. Sounds like he has alot of experience with that stuff. I think his goat herd requires a high maintenance level, if you know what I mean.
