Fellow Deer Farmers and Hunting Ranches as some of you know we are putting together a plan of action to promote and support our industry. A group of deer farmers from this very forum have teamed up to put together a booth at Pa Sportsman Show in February. We are looking to give a doe and a buck hunt away each day “A Hunt a Day Giveaway”. We will use this time to not only promote but to educate the public about Hunting Ranches. In the days to Come we will be looking to present our plan of action to PADFA. Here is where some of you may be able to help. We are in need of Hunting Ranches to participate to put on the hunts and donate lodging, meals, guide, and skinning. Deer Farmers can join in by donating does, 120-135 class bucks, and other monetary things.

Thank you to all who have stepped up to help us already:

#1 - Matt Lowans and Henry Martin to work the booth at the show - Donated time

#2 - The Wilderness Lodge - Donated Ranch to hunt, Lodge, Guide Service, Skin and Food for hunters

#3 - Whiskey Ridge Whitetails - Donated Doe

#4 - Circle J Ranch Whitetails = Donated Doe, and mounts for display

#5 - Windy Hill Whitetails - Donated Doe or Buck, whatever we need to get it moving

#6 - Four Season Whitetails - Can get Ranch and Deer Donated in NY

#7- Alpha and Omega Whitetails- Donate banner

The time to act is now!

Please consider donating something towards this promotion.......monetary donations are also welcome.

I will gladly donate a hunt for this effort. :)

A few years ago we started a program through our SCI chapter named "Inner City Hunts". We partnered up with a school in the inner city part of St. Louis and had kids sign up to come take a hunter safety course and then harvest their first doe. They had to be fairly good students that had good grades and were willing to make up the class work they missed.

The club paid for everything and we provided the hunt and meeting space for 6 kids. The first day and 1/2 was spent in the hunter training classes and shooting on the range. Then we took them out with guides in groups of 2 and let them harvest their first doe. We then processed the meat and let them take it home to their families. To say the least it was a big hit!

Although it was a lot of work, this is not only good for high fenced hunting; it is also good for hunting in general. And when people saw how easy it was to get a permit to hunt and go hunting in a hunting ranch (In Feb), they were very surprised!

Just some thoughts!!!

Sam and Scott I and many others have noticed how you two men always answer the call to help. The deer industry is a better place because of people like you.

May you both be richly blessed in this life and the next.

Project update.

We are currently presenting out plan to PDFA this week. As of right now it is looking real good that PDFA will take this under there banner. We look forward to working with the PDFA board and its members in promoting Hunting Ranches and educating the public on Fair Chase.

We should know for sure by the end of the week. We will keep you all posted.

A special thanks is in order to all that have helped out with this project. From those who donated time and services to the guys working to bring this project from forum to paper, then to reality.

Thank you all and God Bless!

Pine Tree Trophy Whitetails will donate a 2 day management buck hunt (up to 140") with meals and lodging included.

As some of you know we have presented our project proposal to PADFA. And due to the tight time frame we have to put on this event, they respectfully have declined. They see this as something on a grand scale as they should and to tackle this the way that they want to, there is just not enough time. However we will be working with some of its members and continue to move forward with a scaled down version of this project to be ready for the 2011 Eastern sportsmen’s show. With our combined efforts this project may lead to similar PADFA projects in the future.

We would like to thank the PDFA board for taking time over the holidays and reviewing our project and we look forward to working with them on upcoming projects.

As we stand on this project we have enough Hunts and deer donated to promote a “Hunt A Day Give Away” at the eastern Sports show Feb.5 – Feb. 13. We will be giving away 5 doe hunts and 4 buck hunts in our efforts to promote Ranch hunting. People can come by and sign up to win these hunts buy visiting our booth. Signing up is free and does not cost a thing; tickets will be donated by Per4mance Whitetail Designs. These people then will be handed a brochure with educational material inside. This brochure will be donated by Red Ridge Whitetails.

Now a lot of you have already stepped up and contributed. But as you know putting on such an event takes funding. With most of the ranches are donating the hunts plus the deer and all the small items being donated, and booth time already full, what we need is funding to help pay for the booth we have already purchased. A lot of you have already contacted me on this matter and have asked if there is any more you can do. Well this is it. Your donations will not go unnoticed will put the name of everyone donating to this cause on the back of the educational material. You can write it off as an advertising expense. Those who donate will have ther farm or ranch showcased in the educational material being handed out at th show. You can contact Myself or Henry Martin for additional details and more information. Henry Martin is who will be handling the donations

We are excited about promoting our industry and It is full speed ahead and we are going to go thru This. The time to act is know!

Wisdom you make a very good point we could be putting more money into our pdfa bank acount!!! At the same time we need to keep it rolling with or with out the proper support maybe in time they will see the need. I would also like to know who is orginizing all the details on the hunts as far as when were what deer need moved were and so on.Is there a contact person and if so who and what is your number.

I think the PDFA is upset because someone(like some of the smaller farms) went and organized something without first getting "there" permission. I probably shouldnt have said this but I know I am not the only one thinking it.

I was bluntly told last year by members of the PDFA if we have problems or solutions bring them to the boards attention. But if you do bring your suggestions to us be prepared to carry them out. In the conversation I was told PDFA are busy working on other issues. We did as they ask. We identified a problem, we have worked hours days on this plan and submitted the plan to the PDFA and we are ready to carry it out.

I took the day off yesterday to contact as many of the board members who would answer my repeated calls. For the most part but not all I encountered negativity, what ifs and we can’t.

Who else out there thinks we can. Lets hear from you.

Any thing new and different is difficult to start. If you keep your intentions true to serve others and help our industry even slow you will gain support of many. I believe in giving you an Apple Creek hunt in Wi in hopes your seed may grow to other states. Remember how we hunt fish and hunt.

Good Luck,

Scott

Good point Scott,

You are so right about starting something new and I was really upset with the PDFA when I heard they did not want to support the hunt giveaways this year....but then i did put myself in their shoes and thought from a business standpoint that they want to see more........they need to see some success before they throw their hat into the mix......I can respectfully see where they are coming from........but they could find a way to help without having it run under their title....so i am I little dissappointed if they don't atleast consider that.

I don't understand the PDFA as a whole can only benifit from this. We have people not only people but fellow members willing to donate time, deer, hunts, money and so on.Why are they not giving support to us the members the ones who make up the PDFA.
