Let's map EHD affected area for 2012.

I am curious as to the area of North America that EHD was killing deer this year. I live in North East Iowa and have never had it come this far. I did hear of a breeder 30 miles from me that had 4 bucks drop dead in early October but don't have conformation as to if it was EHD. So if everyone...

EHD Questions and Food for Thought

Has the incubation time been determined, that is the time from when the animal has been biten by an infectious midge, to the time that visible symptems appear? Is there any cross immunity between the different strains after an animal has recovered from one of the forms of EHD or Bluetongue...

Curiosity about buying plans post EHD

A post in another discussion has my mind wondering what folks would say to the following questions. Assuming YOUR FARM incurred losses this year associated with EHD, will YOU be buying deer to replenish YOUR HERD? As a follow up question. If you are looking to replenish your herd in some way...

    EHD - Still Killing

I had not lost a deer for just over a week and was hoping that EHD was over for this year, but it's back on a roll in my neighborhood with deer dying again. Is anyone else still having deer die from EHD?

    EHD question

Question...if a deer is infected by a midge and shows symptoms can a mosquito feed on that deer and pass the virus to a healthy deer. Can a biting fly do the same?? can a non-infected midge bite an infected deer and pass the virus to a healthy deer??

    EHD Vaccines...........Do They Work ?

I'm courious to see what everyones thoughts are on EHD vaccines and their effectiveness? I know I have talked to several Vets who believe they DO NOT help at all and have done multiple draws of blood on animals at different times after vaccinating animals and they claim NO signs of the...

    EHD in PA Video

I did a TV interview with channel 11 wpxi tv. I have given my thoughts on how this midge keeps entering the upper states where this bug is not native to. I feel that the reason that its getting here is the trucking industry delivering fruit out of the southern states as said in my interview. If...

I don't have a picture of him but this is a 4year old buck that has swelling under his jaw only on the left side. Which happens to be the same side he has had lumpy jaw for 3 years! Now the reason this concerns me is we have lost 11 to EHD type 2 so far and only saved one. None of the deer we...

CWD vs. EHD Federal and State Regulations

Why is the state and federal government so hell bent on the subject of CWD (chronic wasting disease), when EHD (epizootic hemorrhagic disease) kills more deer in the United States than CWD ever will? I as a deer farmer in the state of Pennsylvania have lost numerous deer, mainly bucks, to this...

    EHD Cure

I would like to give my opinion on the subject of EHD and this is not directed toward any other products, only Shock Effects products. We have had an overwhelming amount of phone calls on the subject. First a little back ground on our own herd. We have two locations. There are more than 120 deer...

EHD in PA - just wanted to let people know the first signs of EHD. Took these pictures of a shooter buck that we have that contacted EHD. E.H.D.???

I have a 3 y/o buck that I noticed slobbering slightly yesterday evening. Today he have froathy slobber hanging from his mouth, heavy breathing, and seem's confused. Could this just be pneumonia from the heat, or should I assume it more serious. If it is EHD and its this early, do I have...
