I,m thinking about making mule deer embryo's for the people who want some mule deer genetics. Reason being there is a shortage of quality stock available. We are sold out of mule deer for 2017 except I will have ten Northern buck fawns for sale yet. We would not be able to make these embryo's till this October/November. I would be able to make Northern and high percentage desert frozen # 1 embryo's.
I have talked to my Vet on embryo's and he indicates we would only process #1 quality embryo's for freezing. He said we would use # 2 quality embryo's for ET here on the ranch as they will make my does pregnant as #2 quality will still develop in the uterus.
I'm going to work with another producer in LA who will use Dr Briggans and see if this is a viable option to make pure mule deer this November out of whitetails. I don't want to waste either your money or mine if it isn't. Being up in Montana I haven't heard much about this process or it's success. We do plan to do a embryo transplant on our ranch from our good desert does to our whitetail does this November as a simple E.T. has been very successful here.
I will be collecting hair samples for DNA on many of my desert genetic deer as the industry seems to want that.
Here is a example of a buck we will be able to use on our does.
I figure the price per embryo will be 2000 to 3500 depending on quality of stock used.
What I'm looking for is there any interest from the industry in doing this. If there is I will set the process up for this October/November. Call or email me if interested and I will make a list of interested buyers and call you when we have embryo's. [email protected] 406-467-2910
