Not a huge one, but it was my son Colin's first buck ever. First day deer hunting ever! I was a VERY proud Dad!

You'll always remember your first :) Congrats!

Steve, Congrats to you and your daughter. Love to see the young ones getting into hunting.

Yea, it was amazing. She was my first child to ever kill a deer so we we're all very excited. She was more excited about it than I thought she'd be which just made it that much better for me. I just can't wait till my son is old enough to hunt :)

Congrats to your daughter Steve!!...my boy got his first deer this year as well. I have never seen him so excited in his young life!

I can't get the photo to post so I'm guessing a certain post count is required...

Congradulations!! on your deer Gage a real DANDY!!!! Love it when them youngsters get involved and the parents take time to get em out in the woods!

Here is a couple pictures of the bucks my 12 yr old son and I shot last week here in West Virginia during our rifle season. I shot a nice 8 point the opening morning. Hunter shot a 5 point that evening. Hunter also shot a big wide 6 point ( no brow tines ) on Wednesday. My dad, who is 68 yrs old, (not pictured) shot a 4 point on opening morning. It was the first time we all shot bucks on opening day. We are allowed 2 bucks each. I am looking for a big 10 point that has eluded me all bow season. I guess I will shoot him to tag out, or shoot nothing at all.

The bucks weren't any trophies, but we had alot of fun. It's always nice to be in the woods with my dad and my son.

That's what it's all about right there! Congrats to all you on your kills.

I just started Bow Hunting last year. You can kill 2 Bucks a year with your bow in MO. Here is my first two bucks I ever killed with a bow! The third picture is a deer is the bigges deer I ever killed. I killed him with a gun. Obviously I spent alot of time scouting in the woods this year...

Here are the bucks that were taken on my property this year(freerange). They were taken by a cousin ,a son in law,my 11 year old daughter Hailey and the older gentle man is a very close friend. This was my daughters very first deer, she shot it on opening day of gun season. She made a great shot on him, through the back side of the heart. I am so proud.

In the past I always wanted to limit how many people hunted, afraid that it was going to ruin my hunting. Well what i realized is that I was ruining my own hunting experience all those years. This year was the best time I've ever had, and I haven't shot a buck yet. Helping someone else get A deer is so much more rewarding than taking one youself.

I shot this buck on the third day of my hunt. After I shot him I had the opportunity to hunt hogs and saw a buck that was over 200" free range!! If I only had more patience. I guess he will have to wait till next year. So goes the story I guess.

Check out what I shot yesterday. Even though I was dressed in my hunter orange I was hunting with my bow. It is our muzzleloader season here in WV, and any firearm season hunter's must wear orange. I had shot a doe earlier this week, so my muzzleloader season was over. So the bow was the only legal weapon to take. We had seen this little piebald buck many times when hunting this farm. I had never shot him before because I didn't have any idea what I was going to do with him afterward. A deer this pretty definitely needed preserved in some fashion. I made a perfect 20 yr shot and he fell within 50 yards.

He has a hunch back and short legs. But man, he is gorgeous. Real long winter hair. He is a wild deer, not one of mine. I have raised deer for 10 years and piebalds for 6 years. But this one is still one of the prettiest I have ever seen. I have harvested 2 piebald bucks in prior seasons (one in 1995 and another in 1997) and also an albino in 2007. I love these things !!
