Back in the summer of 09' I posted this first picture of this buck with antler growing out the side of his head. I was concerned if it would shed off. Well it did. Look close at where the hide was torn when the antler dropped....ouch.

I think it will be larger on his next rack, but maybe not so deep next time he sheds

Did you treat it with anything? I hope it doesn't grow like that next year. I bet he does too.

with the piece of hide now missing it should heal around the new pedicle and even if it grows the extra tine there shoud be no hide covering it where it is attached to the pedicle and there should be no further injury when it casts

In the third picture, what is that green stuff next to the snow?

I should know this, but its been soooooooo long.

I think I'd give him something, just in case. Keep us posted. I'm very curious as to what he'll do next year.

Willows, the green stuff is probably alfalfa hay I tossed there so he would stick around for a pose. I believe he will be fine. Just imagine how many bucks would die from this if they would not shed until fly season.

Fly season when did it start? What is the bag limit? Which scoring system do you use? Where can I get those tiny tiny arrows?
