Found him lightly breathing yesterday like at noon time and died an hour later .....had also a blurry eye ...other eye was normal and active . He was in a pen with 12 other yearling fawns. It's not scrapes from a high fence,he had scraped hair loss in between his body too. Never seen this !!! Anyone?

Do you have any other pictures? The swelling and damage to the eye looks like trauma in this pic, but I'd be curious to see the other areas, too.

never saw nothing like that, how long he look bad?not a clue would like to hear some opinon also!!was he thin too?probably taking his last.eyes look bad long? looks like truama. but doubtful that bad.we up to early robbie!! been up since 2 done drank a pot. DC

Im sure when he started looking bad you wormed and give plenty meds. just guessing look like ate something real bad! looks like something allegric reaction.with hair loss. gonna be guessing game looks like. looks like lump on jaw.(EDIT) if you ever done a necropsy. this one i would do!DC

The lose of hair looks like he laid there and slowly died while dragging his head back and fourth on the ground.

(Reed68) I think you might be right about it dragging his head back and fourth and dying slowly, his hole one side was like skin burnt ....he did have some burnts in between his legs too. He was ill and paralized....I sent him to the vet to get a autopsy!!!

I'll keep you all updated..and yes ,they were wormed and fed record rack .....Thanks

dont know look kina rough all i know lotta lumps.even under eye, some might be rubbed off. even look like some hair loss around lip.sure would like to know since he look so rough. hard to tell what really wrong would be a guess though .since he laid and moved head till hair gone.Dc

We've seen this when their down and either dragging & banging their head trying to get up or if they are experiencing seizures which could also explain the swellings and eye trauma. There should have been swirls in the dirt or grass where you found him.

I wonder if he could have got into a nest of ground hornets. If he was stung enough he might have had a reaction that caused his heart to stop. Rick

Oh my gosh, bless his heart. Poor baby.....I hate to see a deer suffer like that. Sorry about your loss.....

Vet said he couldn't determine why it died , they checked everything in its organs and stomach. He probably got sick and died .:(

Around eight years ago I found a doe that look alot like the picture you are showing. She had the hair wore off her face, I cut her open and found a peace of black cloth that block her 1st stomach up it was not a good way to die . Your might of died with something else hard telling

Three years ago I lost a doe fawn...

Her name was Muck because she looked like she had muck boots on...

She was a very calm fawn, One day I went out...She was crashing around into everything Rubbing her head on everything...I couldn't get her to quit for anything. She had the hair rubbed clear off her head and both her eyes were swollen clean shut...I had to drug her to get her to calm down...There was One single bumble bee sting on her forehead. I Think She just kept rubbing it cause it hurt or she had a terrible reaction to it.I put her down because She was swollen so bad and so miserable, but it looks almost identical...I even found the bee in her stall where the whole ordeal started before she went outside and crashed around.

Best of luck

My take on this would be the fawn was Ill from something that made him vulnerable to his pen mattes that took advantage of his weakness and put some hooves to his head !! He has too much trama around the face to just be from thrashing on his own !! Just my 2 cents on this one !!
