I would like some opinions on this buck. This is one of the first bucks I started with 4yrs ago as a fawn. His genetics were not as important then to me as they are now, bc I wanted to get my feet wet before I started investing more money. Now that I am investing more in the farm, I have moved to better genetics in my deer.
I am looking for some guesses from those of you that have more experience with scoring and predicting of bucks. This buck was a basket 8pt as a yearling, a 18" wide 10pt as a 2yr old with lil mass (120"), last year he broke off midway thru growing due to a wild dog, this year he is going to be 4yrs old and has started fairly nice for me, has decent mass and width. What would be your thoughts on where he will end up, should i move him this year as a shooter, or hold him and cut his breeding and sell him next year?
I know feeding a deer this long is not ideal for making any money, i will probably be losing money on this deer, but im still curious on the market for a deer like this and what your opinions are on what to do with him.
Thanks again everyone. Feel free to give it to me, i have thick skin I can handle it.
