fawn with swollen ankle

We have a two week old buck fawn with a swollen ankle. It was born 3.5 lbs and was very weak. We pulled it, and it took to the bottle and has a good appetite. The swelling started about 5 or 6 days ago. Two days ago we gave it a 1/2 cc of Draxxin, but the swelling has not come down. It feels like it is fluid and is slightly warm to the touch. He favors the leg, not putting much pressure on it when he walks, but does not show signs of pain when I pick him up and touch or move it around. Despite the swelling, he doesn't miss a feeding. Any suggestions on how I can get the swelling down? Thanks.

We had one fawn a couple of years ago that looked similar and it was an abcess. We hot packed it with a washcloth 2-3 times a day. Finally had to lance it but found them in several other places too and had to put the little guy down. Don't know if yours is the same thing but maybe it wouldn't hurt it to try a hot pack.

Need to get this little one on antibiotic ASAP. Looks to me it could be bacteria that came trough navel and is setting in on the joints. With out treatment it will go septic throughout the body and kill em down the line. Talk with your vet. ZZ
