Rusty, not sure, they are certainly a nitch hunt for sure. If anyone calls me to ask about some, which many preserves do in this area, I will point them in your direction.

HAB, sorry about the delay on posting a pedigree of Thorn, we have been having a lot of hunters these past 2 weeks. Thanks James

Here is my yearling pied named zeke, he is on a breeder loan for Freedom whitetails (from these forums), a farm that is just down the road from me. I hope he makes lots of colorful babies for them next spring.

Here is a white buck that the owner is selling straws from, his name is White Rocky. He is listed on Whitetail Exchange

Yeah, he is a nice one for sure. A friend of mine ownes him and asked me to sell semen out of him which I have listed on Whitetail Exchange for him. This same guy bought another white buck that I sold for another guy on Whitetail Exchange, his name is Glacier. Daryl is certainly gathering up a great group of white sires for breeding.

We collected semen and scored V-Tex Thorn last night. He was was not officially but I scored him as accurately as I possibly could and he scored 251 3/8 with 30 scorable points. We were all quite surprised with our yearling scoring that well, but even more thrilled since he is a piebald. James

Has he got any pied in his back ground and how much for a straw.

Virgil, On the maternal side he does not unless Soaring Eagle has some piebald genetics. As far as the paternal side I do not know if Waldo has any. His semen price is $1000 per straw and was collected by and stored at Champion Genetics. thanks James

1 1/2 yr old buck (antlers sawed) we call Slinky. He likes to play in the mud. And we have had a lot of rain.

As the owner of Waldo I can say that I never saw any pied in his background. He is however, REALLY producing. We have some Waldo over Awesome sons that are really good and Barry McGrew has also got some huge Waldo sons. However, none are Pied. We never sold much of Waldos semen so I have a few straws left :)

This may have been answered a hundred times before, but is the piebald gene recessive? I have a buckfawn that has just a little extra white...

Antler Valley, we believe the pied gene is dominant. BUT deer will have one dominant gene and one recessive gene. Their offspring will depend upon which gene is passed on. If they pass on the pied gene the offspring will be pied. If they are breeding brown does and the brown gene is passed on it will be brown. We have pieds and we always breed pied to brown. Our deer then can have one of 4 combinations, since each parent has two genes and passed on one of them. The end result depends on the combination. Observing what we have raising pieds for many years, we feel the pied gene is dominant over brown, but it will depend on what the pied deer is breeding to. Whether they are a little pied or a lot pied doesn't matter - they are still pied. That is why sometimes a pied deer shows up and you can't figure out where it came from - one of the parents was pied but with very few markings - they essentially will look like a brown deer.

We did an entire segment on our TV show on this. WE are now on the Pursuit/Hunting channel airing on Thursday nights at 8 PM eastern and 7 PM central time. The episode on pieds and whites will air again but not for quite a while.
