Big Rig semen contest!!!

I said big. I was right. My does are lined up at the fence .. Waiting on big rig!! Can't wait till fawning season. Going to talk to my girls in the morning to let them know who there baby's daddy will be.

wow, our first 600 " deer ---- and only by 5/8 inch---- I'll take 10 straws--whats the price ? Darren

Wowser 600 plus...Thats big,big,big...I hope we get to see that rack at nadefa..I would like to watch that get scored as im sure many would watch also...Can you imagine ballistic sitting right next to them in line. How many would it take to score them!!

It might cost you all your deer Darren to get 10 straws. Lol. 600" 2 yr old I would imagine will be costly

First off I would like to congratulate Harry, Josh and Joe on one of the most amazing deer I have ever seen. BIG RIG is awesome!!!!!! At Buckhaven we are very excited about having the Alabama semen rights and look forward to seeing what he produces in the future. We had BIG RIGS mount at our booth October 1st at the fall ADA show and he was a show stopper. His pic is below, when we put him together it was a little off but still extremely impressive. 600 5/8" WOW

Wow! A friend of mine got to see Big Rig about 2 Days before the first pictures of him were posted. He told me he thought he just saw the new record. I guess maybe he was right. What a deer!

He is a huge deer for sure and not trying to take anything away from him but I do get tired of guys trying to make deer wider on the mount than they really are.

mabey thats how it got that score,i think that and ballistic need to be officially scored at nadefa,i mean to have the worlds biggest needs to be shown, not with some hand picked scorers, dont they give awards away for the largest of the year, well it should be proven before given that honor. my opinion.

Ya, There are so many deer out there with a 600 inch spread. I'm sure that's where he got that score. All those points and mass had nothing to do with it. All the posts I read were simply opinions also. Where did you read where he was given the honor of the biggest. I can't find it.

The post I read from Buckhaven admitted the antlers were off in the mount so why make a big deal out of what they already admitted to. I get tired off people posting there deer and even offering a free straw and then they get grief about it. Why can't we just appreciate how big this deer is and congradulate the owner for raising a deer of this size. If you read all the posts you will see Big Rig damaged his antlers and even had a piece of them removed and still grew this big. He is a great deer anyway you look at him.

Wow! What happened to the rest of this post and the other one you deleted completly. I'm glad you took the time to read the other posts completly and reconsider what you posted before. I have wrote things and later realized they came across the wrong way and corrected them as well. I hope that's what happened to you.

yeah nick thats what i meant.600 in inside spread.good thinking.as far as a record everyone except you i guess knows balistic was considered the biggest so if one shows up bigger well then i think that would make him the record. If nadefa is the offical spokesperson for deer farming then no scores should even matter untill its done by nadefa scorers. On farm at conference does not matter,if its not a nadefa approved scorer it should not matter.i know there has been no word of the biggest ever,or world record yet but im sure its coming. As far as making the mounts of different than what they really are..why do it.You have measurements before you cut..He is a pile of bone and nobody can take that away from him so show him in all his lifelike glory.

I know all about Ballistic. However this thread is about Big Rig. I agree if any buck is called the record he should be scored by the correct panel and I'm sure both deer will be at the correct time. I also agree there is no need to change the spread on the mount but you can't hold that against the deer or the owner. The post with him mounted admitted the antlers weren't perfect so what else can they do? They didn't try to hide it or say that the mount was perfect.

I can't believe how fricken petty people can be. Yes sir ree bob I said fricken. Some of you jealous children act like little school kids playing tattle tale on the other kids on the play ground. For God's sake have some self respect and respect for others in the industry who have put the time, money, and effort into raising big deer.

As someone who has raised big bucks and paid big money to antler replicators and head mounters just to have the damn thing come out looking like crap I can attest to the fact mounts don't always turn out they way they should. As deer growers we put pressure on the antler replicators and head mounters to get the work done in very short time frames. Ours isn't the only work they have to do and at times it comes back in less than expected form despite how much you paid or what you gave them for measurements. Is that the growers, the deers, or the display farms fault? NO IT IS NOT!

And about scoring of these big deer. As someone who has had big bucks laying on the ground and having the nerves running full steam through my head just hoping the deer gets back up and lives I can tell you time spent dicking around being all petty about who measured what and who saw what is the last thing on a persons mind. As growers WE are the final and most responsible person in charge of the well being of these animals. We plan ahead to hope the best care and best and most accurate assessment of the antlers takes place. We try to be fair and as impartial as possible. But in the end it is the health and well being of the animal that take precedence over all else.

Some folks are already calling for the antlers to be scored at NADEFA because NADEFA is the "official spokes person" of the industry. I have been a big supporter of NADEFA both with name and with money but I am here to say NADEFA isn't the "official spokes person" for crap. Their job is to insure that the industry can operate fairly and openly across state lines in the market place. Laws and free markets is their job. They are not to insure equality and fairness is being dealt in advertisements or at booth displays as it pertains to scores of bucks. Also who said the 3 scorers who scored Big Rig weren't already official NADEFA scores? And just what the hell is an official NADEFA scorer? Aren't the official score people at NADEFA actually SCI scorers? I just bet Big Rig was scored by an official SCI scorer. No I bet he was scored by 3 official SCI scorers! Sure seems like a "panel" of scorers to me.

I have ZERO, ZILTCH, NOTTA do to with Big Rig or Ballistic. I can only tell ya I like the owners of both deer. I am currently not using either of these bucks in my program. (only because my current program is too small now to use them) I have no vested interest in who uses what or who says what about these two bucks. What I am is what I have always been. An outspoken, honest, fair assessing farmer with a couple of years in the industry who calls it like I see it. Both Big Rig and Ballistic are some kick a$$ monster bucks. I don't care if one or the other is off by a couple of inches one way or the other. I don't care who owns them. I don't care how they look or don't look. They are some BIG BUCKS. And they, and the growers, and the owners deserve to be respected and treated with respect and dignity.

I was told once by Russell the operator of this forum, that success brings critics. That is an unfortunate reality of the world and this industry.

Congrats to Harry for producing Big Rig. All the owners of Big Rig. All the vested users of Big Rig. And although this thread isn't about Ballistic congrats to Gary and Jane for Ballistic as well.

It is bucks like these two bucks that keep the bar rising ever higher each year despite what your opinion is or isn't about the looks or style of the antlers.

My brother who was big in racing always said... "Money buys speed, just how fast do you want to go?"

The cold hard facts are antler inches pay the bills. How many bills do you want to pay?

Now everyone who wants to jack me up for giving my opinions can feel free to do so.

The End.

roger we dont need to jack you up,it sounds like you like to do that for yourself.this is about the 4th time you have put yourself in with big deer farmers with big deer.can you please tell me what big bucks you have grown.i know i am new to all this but i cam only find a couple nice bucks you have owned and it seems like when i get on whitetail exchange everybody has them.there was no bad mouthing big rig and we all know you can get any scorer to get different numbers.if any farmed deer were in front of a panel of people not just a couple it would be different.

Deerfarmer, I may still be a little farmer myself, now in my 8th year of farming. I got in when things were good and now you can buy a real power doe for the price I paid for my no-namers back then. Anyway, Roger might have a tendancy to rant, but he has had some nice deer, and maybe the reason why you haven't heard or seen more big bucks from him is because he's so passionate about improving his line of does. Ever hear him mention how often a particular animal is listed in a doe's pedigree? This is the kind of guy who will invite a no-name deer farmer into his home, let him help run his power does through the chute, and allow him to actually look into a speculum before or after she has been bred by semen I still can't afford. With the possible stress of having an animal in the chute, I can't say I'd do the same, but Roger is one who will...I don't think he meant any harm, nor did he mean to put himself above any other.

Sorry for the controversy ....I was not aware it was going on until I got so many pm's, emails and phone calls about what was being said ........I never got on here proclaiming "new record" .......believe it don't believe it I don't care!!!!!!! No worries TO ALL our intentions are to have it at NADEFA ....until then anyone is welcome to come put a tape on him!!!!! Just let me know when you want to come over ill schedule you in........

Thanks deerfarmer2011 for pointing the difference in the picture and the mount ......YOU GOT ME..... I'M EXPOSED!!!!!! YES the mount was off but it wasn't that the width was trying to be manipulated the antlers had spun on the post going into the head. I hadn't even seen the antlers nor the mount since I gave them to my taxi and in rush to get it done and to get it TO the ADA as I promised Buckhaven I would do my darntist to do so. So unfortunately things didn't allow the mount to be perfect.... I believe they had them wired to the booth trying keep in place .

I think, deerfarmer2011 whom ever you are???? If you want to question a score there are many others that you will have better luck with and should make sure they are at NADEFA for the scoring session .

I am using my phone to respond to this so excuse all the errors.

What a crazy time of year just to give all ya all a sample of our fall season time wise.....Friday 8am we started drawing bucks then at noon state vet came to read tests then immediately jumped in vehicle to meet hunters left my hunters for a while to go to my sons football game which I missed a couple already because of having hunters in ...came back last night and shot deer already this morning......Monday morning we are drawing out of a few other bucks....then testing some more deer in the afternoon ..tues we start putting cidrs in ....wed we have hunters coming in ....Thursday I will have to leave my hunters to go read tests ....etc..... I want all ya all to feel sorry for me now.LOL. Point is it has been a grind but the good news is that we and I believe many others are shooting the **** out of deer. Just thought I would end this post on a good positive note.

Just give me a call with any questions or concerns and yes my mailbox is full so leave a text.

We are tickled to death to be blessed to have him and a big thanks to Shaun and the gang at Buckhaven for working with us even if they are a bunch of REDNECK deerfarmers FROM ALABAMA.
