If you had 2 or 3 offers from respectable deer people then i would say whatever offfers you recieved were pretty close to what he's is worth. If you go back and do a search on here you will find some posts of what some guys were offering for a 190-200in buck last year!! Cool looking buck though. Someone could find a home for him i'm sure!!

I would say you should of had offers in the $3,000 to $5,000 dollar price range.......But I also know it varies ALOT depending on were you are and how many bucks are needed in that size. He has a good look to him and I would think he would move fast!

Thanks for the nice comments on my buck! I live in Wisconsin with a CWD status 3-29-02 and TB accredited. I have no offers over 3,000 this is why I asked! Is this what people are paying for a buck like this???

Wayne, I think your amount is a fair price. I think he's worth right in the middle of that price range. I will have to wait for the fall to come to see his head gear this year at 4 and see what he will bring. I know he's only worth what someones willing to pay but, the good part is I own him and I dont have to sell him if I dont like the numbers!

Lakeshore - 4 or 5 years ago that buck would bring $6700 and up all day long. but do to the influx of all the extra shooter bucks now available(Oops!! I forgot, we aren't suppose to talk about that), you could more accurately figure about 1/2 that price.

Good luck Lakeshore!

Add to that the fact that many preserves have cut their prices! When you get one or two slashing prices to ridiculous levels it affects everybody.

Flees line, Little Bommer II. I dont think he will make a breeder in today's market!

I wasn't thinking as a breeder in the "breeding market"...I was just thinking as a breeder buck for someone who is just trying to raise that 170" range shooter buck. Someone who isn't going to pay 15K+ for a big name/pedigree breeder buck...but someone who will pay more money than he's worth as a shooter. I've sold numerous 200" bucks as breeders to farms for this purpose.

I would use him as a breeder, even if i had bigger bucks he would still get several does, I like his look. He would have got at least 2-3 does if he was on my farm this year, You just need to find the right person, someone will like him enough to pay a fair price, for someone to offer you less than $3000 is a rip off. don't be quick to settle for less, which it seems you did not, if your not desperate to sell, you hold the upper hand. Sometimes when we are desperate to sell something we do it and quickly regret it. i know its happened to me. Good Luck with him this year, I hope he goes over 200'', he looks like he will.

why aren't we supposed to talk about the influx of shooter bucks?

someone can get sell a hunt with him for at least $9000 so minus about a 1000-2000 off that is what you could get selling it to a ranch. as a breeder cant say a round about price.

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but If you can tell me what ranch will pay over 80% of the hunts value for a buck I'd love to hear about it. I don't know how they'd make any money at all with a price like that.

Yeah I have to agree with Michael on this......I wish he was worth 7000.......but not in todays market..........I hate to say it but if you get a offer for 3000 jump on it!

Wow , isn't a shooter over 200" still worth at least $4,000 in todays market ? I thought most preserves were still paying a solid $4,000 for a good looking shooter that scored over 200 . As a breeder , I'm thinking he's a bit iffy inless he can produce son's over the 170 mentioned in 400club's post . In todays markets can we make a dollar on 170 class bucks that bring around $2,000 with the cost of raising them being so high ? Good looking buck but things are getting tough in this biz ! Just a thought .

I just sold a Typical 7x7, 28" beams, 26" i.s. plus forked brow tines, for $4,500. He grossed 227", central Ohio if that helps you.

The buyer said 5 years ago he would have paid $10,000.
