Our 2011 Farm tours included, Curt Waldvogal, Bruce Richie, Glenn Dice, Wilmer Marten, Harry Strawser, John Irvin Stoltzfus, Amos Kauffman, Jacob Glick Jr., Joe Peachy, Joe Hayes, and Pete Miller.
Being a deer farmer myself, my wife and I annually take a farm tour through Ohio to Pennsylvania to see deer and farm setups. We are a small farm and we are usually only looking for one or two straws of semen per year. So we are going to share with you where we went and what stood out for us, because not everyone can make the trip. Please understand that we saw twleve farms in three days and apoligize if we leave any buck out.
Curt Waldvogal --- He had two outstanding free agent yearlings that were huge. Extemely big, blanaced, and had great frames. Spyder bigger then ever, very long beams with the same great look. One year old B.A.S.S. full brother looked great and had a lot of tine length left to grow.
Bruce Richie --- Had a great looking group of yearlings, most likely the largest over all group of yearlings we saw.
Glenn Dice --- Romeo is sireing extremly big farmes and width. Extreme Dream is bigger then ever. O-16 a three year old p.j. ranger son that was a very big framed typical and he stood out to us. Xceleter is also an outstanding three year old.
Wilmer Marten --- Powerball looks great, he also has a rolex yearling that well into the two hunderds and carrying a great look with lots of growing left.
Harry Strawser --- What can I saw except, WOW! I would highly recommend anyone going to P.A. to stop in and see for yourself. Big Rig is every bit impressive as the picture that was posted on page 124. There are also many other big framed big inched deer at Moutain Ridge Whitetail. (Big Guy three year old, three Rigid 2 year olds, double bucky, two rigid yearlings and Rigid himself just to name a few)
John Irvin Stoltzfus --- He had the biggest group of two year old and Ramsey is bigger then ever. Goldrush, Greyhound and Copperhead were three of johns breeders that stood out to me.
Amos Kauffman --- Say it aint so shadow is definitly the tamest 400 inch whitetial in the industry.
Jacob Glick Jr. --- Renegade is going to be much bigger then last year, he grow extremely late last year and I think everyone will be impressed to see him at the end of this year. He had many other great bucks, Climax (damaged) Blackjack, Applejack and Extra look great.
Joe Peachy --- He has a Shadow/Banshee three year old that is going to be a very big typical. He has several up and coming yearlings that I think will be very impressive next year. Powermaxin looks like he is leaving his mark in his sons.
Joe Hayes --- He is an up and coming deer farmer, with a lot of potential. He bred with great genitics last year and looks like he will do it again this year. It won't be long and everyone will know Mike (his partner) and Joe.
Pete Miller --- The best looking farm setup. He buck Marsh Milbo is producing big farmes with lots of mass. I was very impressed with Milbo's yearling sons. Dream Milbo and several 2 year olds are carrying this great look.
I would like to thank all of the farms that welcomed us and some on very short notice. Hope to see you all at auctions to come and I will be seeing you next year for sure.
