Alright, I am new to the industry and have purchased a few yearling does. I been told by some that yearling's success rates to lap AI is so low that it isn't worth it. I was wondering if anyone would share there experiences with yearling does? Thanks,

I did 10 of my yearling's this year and get 6 out if ten to take to AI. This year I will be doing all of my does myself . If you can drive a car you can do your AI.

I have 80% plus on lap ai'ing yrlg the past 7 yrs. I feel my yrlgs are my best does so I always ai at least half them to keep accelarating my herd ahead.Best of luck
 
I appreciate the responses and I did see the other post about breeding but felt that was asking if he should and I was wanting more percentages. Another question do any of you feel you are more likely to have singles or doubles when you AI yearlings? I know alot of farmers keep good records of this and since were just starting out any info helps to know what to expect. Thanks again,

We got triplets out of one of our yearling AI's this year. Now that being said, we had two other yearlings that didn't stick the AI either. Those three were the only yearlings we AI'd.
 
We have been very fortunate with yearlings. They have consistently took to ai about as good as older deer have. Last year we ai'd five yearlings and three of them took..two of those had triplets and the other one had twins..but over several years average i think we will see more singles..
 
I am talking about 1.5yr old does. We only expose our 6 month old fawns to live bucks, but only until the first week of December. We don't like late fawns. ;)
 
We did three yearlings this year two LAP and one ******l. The one that we did ******l had Quads but one died at birth. the two that we did LAP,one did not take and the other had triplets and two were born dead.
