Chickens in with deer.

I wouldnt at all

I've had my chickens with deer for 4 years now, they have a great relationship. The deer actually prefer to be with the chickens because fewer bugs, the chickens could care less about the deer. Last summer, we had the does with their fawns running the chicken pen and they preferred the chicken pen, which is a large high fenced pen with all my separate chicken pens/coops since I have to lock all chickens up every night but free range the big pen during the day. I bottle fed for the first time in several years and those fawns were with chickens since they were a couple of weeks old and still are.

I think they can transfer a disease to your deer

I haven't seen one disease since they have co mingled....and we have a lot of deer and I have alot of chickens. so I'm assuming if some disease would pop up from having them together, it would have happened by now.

It has long been known poultry of all kinds carry many diseases some of which can make deer sick or even kill them. Ecoli and salmonella are two that come to mind. That said, some folks have not had problems, or at least have not realized a problem existed associated with poultry around their deer.

We had a few peacocks that would come in and out of our pens as they wanted to. I was constantly having to clean the feed troughs out because of the peacock crap. I didn't notice any difference in the overall health of the deer. But it was a heck of an inconvenience to me.

I have a big problem with wild geese and starlings. They eat in my feeders and drink in my waters. They poop all over everything. The problem is they are causing TB reactors at some times of the year. Then the Feds have to come and find out is it bird TB or cattle TB. The blood tests have not shown any reactors in the whitetail and elk. But the skin test for mule deer always do. It is always bird TB so we have started to kill all the starlings ( shot over 500 last spring) we can and have taken down all the goose nester's from the ponds. It doesn't hurt that I have a neighbor that has waged war on the geese and has killed many of them when they go to his pond. Raccoon's have killed most eggs they laid here so not many geese stay here now. So problem will be solved one way or the other. We now like the shoot, shovel, shut up method.

Jack, if you have problems with starlings try using these reflective ribbons attached to a tall pole or something of that sort. Fruit farms in Michigan use it when their crops are close to harvest, it keeps birds a good distance away.
